My school is a title 1 funded school with a population highly of Hispanic children. My students are 3 and 4 years old that come from poverty backgrounds with their parents making minimum wage. The majority of the students do not speak English because Spanish is the language spoken at home. so many of my students do not speak any English. I am a Blended classroom which has special needs children. For sure, my parents want their children to get an excellent education at our school in order to give them a better chance to succeed and go to college.
Although my parents have busy schedules, they are still actively involved with their children's education by bringing their children to school, volunteering in the school and attending field trips. With all the budget cuts we have experienced in Chicago, our school has been seriously affected. This includes reduction of staff and school supplies like furniture, rugs, electronics, ESL equipment and other basic supplies necessary in a classroom.
