Class 4-301's Diverse Library!
Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you so much for your donations! They have truly impacted our classroom, student learning, and overall understanding. We asked for a truly diverse library- and that is what we got! We were able to have windows/mirrors types books for students to truly see themselves in different books and characters. We were able to see different cultures, races, genders, different abilities like autism, deaf and blindness, and different learning styles.
Our students LOVE independent reading. As teachers we LOVE read louds and introducing all of this diversity to our class. Students have book baggies with leveled and unleveled books that range in topic. They are free to use our library openly on a daily basis. We are able to have conversations with our students about the books they are currently reading. We also use our library books as mentor texts in our curriculum, read alouds for our SEL curriculum for morning meeting, and read alouds for different holidays and special days. For example, the month of April consists of Autism Awareness, Poetry month and Math Month. Your books helped us celebrate and acknowledge these days!
ALL of our students love our new books and are extremely grateful! They especially loved reading Cinderella versions from all over the globe!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Stone

Funded Sep 21, 2015Sadly, our school does not have computers in the classroom nor a computer classroom. Only my scholars who have computers at home get to benefit from technology.
Having the two laptops and printer in the room have been an amazing addition! Scholars whom never interact with computers got to learn how to type and publish some of their stories. Scholars with computers at home got to improve their typing skills and even learned to add pictures and media to stories!
At recess scholars get to enjoy the computer for more story typing or educational games and videos and they have a blast!
My class and I you so much for this educational experience!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Stone
