Listening for Learning
Funded Jan 12, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donations! Our students were so excited to receive their own pair of headphones. We have been able to ensure that all students can fully participate in personalized learning. As students receive differentiation in a variety of ways, these headphones were crucial in helping them receive instruction that is perfectly tailored to them. Our students have also learned about taking care of their own belongings and feel a sense of pride in being able to have their own materials.
Thank you again for the generous donation!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Baltimore City Public Schools.Laptops For Our Classroom!
Funded Sep 16, 2015My class was so excited when they received the laptops! They immediately started creating a space for them in the room and even suggested that we create a set of guidelines to use them, so that we could keep them safe and clean in the classroom. They are constantly giving me suggestions for projects that we can do, now that we have our laptops.
We have already started to use the laptops for research about our current unit on the colonists and Native Americans. Many of the texts from the curriculum are one sided and only give the perspective of the colonists, but their research has helped them to see that there is another point of view to consider in the story of our country. We spent quite a bit of time discussing how to use the Internet appropriately and how to evaluate bias as you conduct your research. They are already becoming more critical as they read from sources and now take it upon themselves to look for multiple sources of information while they investigate.
My goal as a teacher has always been to raise children who are informed citizens that are capable of thinking independently. I am already seeing how these laptops are moving them toward this goal! Using the laptops in the classroom is an intrinsic motivator that allows students to work at their own pace and to guide their group investigations, so that they can think outside the box.
My students thank you from the bottom of their little hearts! You have made their smiles larger and their critical thinking skills stronger by donating to our classroom. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Kroger
