The bookshelves will allow me to display the many books I have available for my special education students and hopefully instill in them a love of reading. They will also allow me to create my own, working, classroom library for the students, Students develop a love of reading by being exposed to many books of their own personal interest. However, having books and not being able to see them defeats the purpose of even having them. Bookshelves will not only allow the students access to the books, but allow me to differentiate the materials for my special education students. The nonfiction Times magazines are a great way to incorporate non-fiction, current events and different activities that include the Common Core Standards. The easel will allow me to work with small groups of students in the back of the classroom and give students the opportunity to write on the easel as part of differentiation and modifications.
