Thank you so much for the gift card for Teacher Pay Teachers. We have a low income Title 1 school and recently started a new reading program. I also teach in an ICT 4th grade setting with many students get below grade level in reading. We need lots of supplemental materials in order to meet the standards and differentiate our lessons to reach the students. We were able to purchase graphic organizers and differentiated skill sheets to reach our students. We use these on a daily basis along with our reading program and have already seen scores improve. I teach in a Title 1 school where almost all the students receive free lunch and most are English Language Learners. Most parents can not read, write or speak English, so they can not support their child at home with homework and extra help. Our school is the only way that many of our students will learn the language and succeed in today's world. The teachers in my school are dedicated to having all our students be successful and to strive to be the best. We teach workshops for parents, do fundraisers for trips, have school carnivals and classroom visits so parents can learn how they can help their child. From past experiences being a first grade teacher, I know how hard it is to reach each child in a classroom of 32 individual students with individual needs while being the only in classroom teacher. I work everyday to support these children to be the best they can be by motivating, encouraging and being there for each and every one of them.
