  • No More Screen Time!

    My students have benefited tremendously from the generosity of you, the donor. They have been writing notes, completing essays, annotating assignments, and using the school supplies to detach from their laptops during this school year. It has been a tough time for many of them but the overall majority of the students prefer to work on paper, even if their expressions say otherwise. The students are being able to work in a more social environment that allows them to use interpersonal skills and write using visual stimulus. It is a shift back to the "old way" of doing school work but they are getting used to writing thanks to your donations.”

  • Mapping The Road To Success For AP Human Geography

    The AP test prep book was the perfect edition to a year thrown into chaos by COVID-19. The book, in conjunction with the textbook, primary and secondary sources, and other forms of media, allowed my students to be fully prepared for the AP test. During this past two years, all of my AP students have benefited from the AP Test Prep book and it has been an invaluable resource to their academic preparation. Without the support from all of you who donated, we would have never been able to adequately prepare for the AP test with our classes being transformed into online learning.

  • Cracking College Credit!

    Thank you very much for your donations to our book drive. We are in our first year of AP World History and these textbooks will enhance the learning environment for our students. As our students continue to learn, we are utilizing our new resources to prepare for a three and one-half hour test that will allow those students who pass 3 college credits towards a social science elective.

    Our school is made up 67% students who receive free and/or reduced lunch. The district struggles to place students in AP classes because of the lack of resources for them to succeed. Your contribution helps change that for many of our students.

Our class is a place where students prepare for life after high school and engage with content reflecting the diversity of their experiences. We learn AP Human Geography! These AP students come from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds; many will be first generation college students. For some, this class will be their first opportunity to earn college credit. The stories of these students make for a rich environment, especially in a class like ours. We use our classroom to learn not only AP Human Geography, but share future plans and ambitions. I hope the students find each other as motivating as I do, because they are hopeful and curious and extremely encouraging in spite of adversity.
