  • Back to the Basics!

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

Students still need to learn no matter what is happening in our world! First grade is such a foundational year! Through this project I was able to get the basic materials for my students! These basic materials include: dry erase pockets, expo markers, mesh bags, playdoh, and more. These items allow my students to learn all while being safe and sanitary!

In first grade students are so hands on!

With these amazing materials, students can continue to learn while DOING but also be safe and not share materials. THANK YOU SO MUCH.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bishop

  • Books to Support Social Emotional Learning

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you doesn't cover it! I am so grateful for YOU! With your help, students now have new books in our classroom library. These book will be used to introduce reading, writing, math, science, and social studies concepts. These books grab students attention and allow them to have perfect examples of the concepts that we are concentrating on.

I love to integrate reading across all curriculums. The books that I have selected are a wide variety that cover many different subject areas. My students are very excited to add these titles to our classroom library!”

  • Our First Taste of Coding in First Grade

    Funded Feb 18, 2020

My students love using technology to learn. Which is great now that we are in full time distance learning! We are a technology rich classroom but had not ventured into the wonderful world of coding. Thank you for the amazing coding Osmo game that my students love so much! It has opened the door for me to share more coding resourses with them while that are at home. I want to always support my students dreams by giving them the opportunity to learn more about what interest them! This awesome Osmo coding kit has helped my students enhance their learning in the digital age.”

  • Financial Literacy in First Grade

    Funded Feb 26, 2020

In order to help students learn about financial literacy, I wanted to put rich literature into their hands. These books focus on families and children from around the world and how economic choices spark action.

This project has allowed me to provide amazing read alouds, that focus on economic choices around the world, and the impact those choices have on their families.

Ultimately, this is the very beginning of financial literacy with some of our youngest students.

By allowing students to experience the financial, time and talent choices of the characters in the stories their thinking has been ignited for future decisions.”

  • A Window to Our World

    Funded Sep 22, 2019

As a teacher I believe the most important part of learning is to create a safe learning environment. I always want my students to feel at home! By working with parents, I continue to build the classroom community atmosphere. One of the most amazing ways that I have found to partner with parents is through the app SeeSaw. Students can post their work on their online journal and parents can go in and leave feedback and encouragement directly to their child. Parents have told me time and time again that so often they wonder what is going on in their child's classroom, but with SeeSaw, they can see for themselves. Thanks to your generosity, we are now one step closer to my class having their own device. It makes using SeeSaw so much easier when students are not having to share devices. Our classroom routine is now so much easier when a student wishes to reflect, share a point of pride, or show some of their work to their families. This new laptop is a great tool and we are so thankful that you made this a possibility for our classroom.”

  • Hippy Hop Down the Sensory Path

    Funded Jul 31, 2019

This Sensory Path is designed to change the student's body position as he/she completes the course. Students focus on academic visuals while moving their body in a specific order. As students move through the path, the body movements slow down or speed up, but work towards giving the proper sensory input without overstimulating the student. This sensory path is designed by using research-based sensory integration therapy techniques to decrease sensory seeking behaviors and increase cognition. The Sensory Path has vibrant colors, and bold rich graphics to brighten the sensory area while engaging the student's interest. This sensory path will be a great place to take students who need a brain break. By taking children to use the Sensory Path, they will complete a series of movements as they navigate through the path that is designed to release the blocked paths and allow the body and brain to refocus. The Sensory Path will be located on a hallway for all students to participate and enjoy.

We are so excited about this new addition to our school. Students are so full of wonder and have been so excited! Thank you so much for supporting our awesome school!”

  • Learning by Designing!

    Funded Aug 3, 2019

The Silhouette Cameo 3 has enhanced my students' learning experiences by exploring their more creative and tactile style of learning. With the help of our Silhouette Cameo, students have more resources for projects that are hands-on and allow students to learn through doing!

My class uses our Silhouette to create projects that correspond with book studies, poetry units, 3D and 2D shapes, and much more.

With the help of our Silhouette Cameo 3, the possibilities to design and create are endless. The Silhouette Cameo allows students the creative freedom to bring ideas to life and create products that weren't a possibility prior. The possibilities are endless with this product!”

  • A Clean and Healthy Classroom

    Funded Jan 20, 2019

Believe it or not, my first graders love to clean! I always worried about allowing them to help me clean the surfaces because of harsh chemicals, but now I am worry free! This chemical free cleaner has been awesome in our classroom. Students were motivated to take a more active role in cleaning their space based on a recent study of different countries. We learned that many children in other countries are responsible for clean their own classroom (Kenya and Japan to name a few). With our new cleaner we can all work together to keep our classroom clean and healthy!”
