Displaying Artwork with Pride!
Funded Sep 6, 2022Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and helping us display our artwork around the school. This has truly been an incentive for my students as well as students around the school! With your help I was able to purchase magnets and materials to display student artwork on lockers that they are able to switch out and display throughout the year. Students are able to have an identity in their artwork and an ownership in this display that truly benefits one hundred percent of the student body here at Edison. Thank you so much for your help!”

Funded Aug 29, 2022Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. With your help, I was able to give hundreds of students the opportunity to have artwork hung in the hallways on their lockers and on the metal strips in the hallways. Every Friday my students make drawings that often as a school we display on our lockers. These are a more casual display than the typical hallway display, but also much more personal. Thank you so much for helping make my dream of turning the school into an art gallery for our students a reality. They get so incredibly excited when the opportunity to create a "locker drawing" happens. Thanks for your support!”

Funded Dec 20, 2021Thank you so much for your impact on my classroom! My students have been using the materials that you helped purchase for the past few months and they have made a significant impact in my classroom! With your help students have created artworks with ease and expressed their creativity with materials that were accessible and quality.
The past few years have been tricky for classrooms across the country, and materials management while social distancing according to our school's protocols was particularly difficult. Thank you for helping make my classroom run smoothly and fairly and allowing students to be their creative artistic selves!”

Materials Management for Efficient Art Creation!
Funded Mar 29, 2019The Edison student artists and I are so incredibly grateful for your generosity and support. Our classroom has been working on organizing materials so that we can make the most of our art time together and your support has helped us immensely! With the addition of carts to each table, we are able to separate each grade levels materials so that everyone knows exactly what they need for the project they are working on for that day! Thank you so much for your continued support and kindness in helping our school and classroom improve and learn!”

Edison Watercolor Masters!
Funded Nov 27, 2018My students have absolutely loved having their watercolors and sharpies to create artwork! Today I passed back some of their paintings that had been hanging in the hallways, and I saw one student hug his artwork! With your help we have been able to create vibrant, colorful pieces that otherwise we would not be able to afford. All of the student projects created were hung in the school so the hallways became our gallery of beautiful student work! The amazing thing about the materials that you were able to provide for us is that the materials can be used for many other projects for years to come, and reach hundreds of students. I hope to create some more meaningful experiences where students hug their artworks!”

Contemporary Art Research for Edison Artists!
Funded Nov 6, 2017For the first five minutes of every class, Edison School artists engage with reading, thanks to your support. Not only do my student get to read about contemporary artists, art history, and art related careers, but they are able to elaborate on what they read every day by creating their own drawn responses to the reading. By responding with critical thinking through art, students are gaining valuable reading skills of visualization and comprehension that are often difficult concepts to teach. Thank you so much for giving Edison School artists the opportunity to have relevant reading that will help not only their creative endeavors, but also their reading capabilities!”

Cozy Classroom
Funded May 6, 2017My students are loving their new lighting in the classroom! The entire classroom feels a little different when there are different lighting arrangements. Without bright overhead lights, and freestanding lamps, students are able to feel comfortable and still have direct lighting on their artwork. Because the lights are adjustable, students are able to adjust the lighting to be either direct or indirect on their artwork so they are able to see how it will be affected.
These lights are also helping several high school students to take photographs for their college portfolios. Taking photographs of your artwork for college portfolios is essential but often tricky for young art students to figure out, especially without proper equipment. These lights are benefiting multiple students in different age groups within the district.
These lights are also allowing students to feel comfortable. While a major trend in education right now is flexible seating, comfortable lighting is often not addressed. Thank you for helping my students feel relaxed, happy, and creative in their school environment!”

Edison Artists: An Exploration of Research and Mixed Media!
Funded Aug 29, 2016My Edison artists are incredibly thankful for your contribution to our classroom! Through your support, we have been able to experiment with materials and processes we wouldn't have typically had available to us. We have created cities through the process of printmaking using printing plates you got us, we have created Christmas ornaments using felt material that we were able to get with your support, and we have been able to have time to practice our handwriting on the white boards that you got us!
In addition to practicing handwriting, on the white boards, some of us have began learning calligraphy through practicing on our whiteboards! A few of us have even began to experiment with the Polaroid camera we were able to get through your donations, and we have been taking snapshots of our classroom and work process while learning about lighting and framing.
Thank you so much for your generous support! We hope to create and learn more about art and we hope for your continued support in the future with our projects. We truly would not be able to create all that we have and experienced all that we have through the art making process without your help. Thank you!”

Funded Nov 30, 2015Our Edison Artists have been such a joy to work with so far this year, and I am so excited to continue working with them! The materials and resources that you helped provide gave the student artists and my classroom new life and provided new artistic opportunities. They were so incredibly excited to use materials such as gold paint and their new markers!
One of the most useful things that your donations gave us was a classroom rug which we use everyday! The students regularly sit in our classroom's art library and play art related games or read books, some of which were also possible with your donations! Another huge project that was possible with your help was a weaving project. Because of your donations, we were able to get yarn and paper plates to construct our own looms! The students really enjoyed this project, and I am hopeful that they will weave for years to come.
Thank you so much again for your help with my classroom and your support for our student artists!”
