  • Reaching Our Reading Goals

    Funded Dec 7, 2023

"Reaching Our Reading Goals" was a big hit with my 3rd grade Gifted and Talented students! Kids were eager to read and came to book club meetings ready to talk about their books - giving reviews on the characters and plot to discussing predictions of what was coming next. Our new class library books led to really great conversations.

Having new books was very exciting for students and enabled them to bond - students who may not have had a lot in common were talking! We will continue to use our class library as a way to come together and grow as both learners and a classroom family! We appreciate all that you have done to make our reading goals come true.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Suglia

  • New Year, New Supplies, New Us!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

What a great way to start the school year! Thank you so much for your generous support to my classroom. These supplies give my students the ability to work and learn using only the best paper, pencils, notebooks, and folders. I am so happy to have a wide variety of supplies for my kids - one can never have enough pencils! In light of the current economy, I realize there are many projects and charities to choose from .... thank you from the bottom of my heart for appreciating the importance of my project.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Suglia

  • Artists in Training!

    Funded Jun 1, 2020

My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences, and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have twenty-six students in my classroom.

The majority of my students read above grade level. My amazing students have been working incredibly hard but have not had time for any kind of enrichment or creative activities they were receiving in school. As was in my "real" classroom, art supplies could be distributed to them for all types of visual and tactical learning experiences.

Thank you for helping me give my students a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in our newly established distance remote learning platform.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Suglia

  • Remote Learning From Home!

    Funded May 28, 2020

My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have twenty-six students in my classroom.

My students now have the school supplies needed to continue their remote learning. So many students left everything in their classroom desks and do not have anything at home! Since it was difficult to get pictures of them using their supplies at home, I uploaded pictures of the many resources we used when we were physically in our school setting. As you can see we were very active in our learning. Now this can continue in their remote home settings as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Suglia

  • Successful Remote Teaching!

    Funded May 20, 2020

As I mentioned in my project introduction, my students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have twenty-six students in my classroom.

My Gifted and Talented students are creative, clever and very enthusiastic about learning. The majority of my students read above grade level. They have benefited from these classroom resources during the remote learning platform.

As seen in the photos, this project provided large chart papers, whiteboard, and markers, that I used to assist my students with their remote learning experiences - especially in Math!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Suglia

My amazing students have been working incredibly hard using the assignments that I have given them with Google Classroom, IXL, and Pearson Realize. However, my learners would benefit greatly from me having large charts and a whiteboard to model math, reading passages, and lessons for them. As was in my "real" classroom, I can leave the charts up for students to reference them in future lessons. This project will provide large chart papers, whiteboard, and markers, so that I can use these amazing tools to assist my students with their remote learning experiences.
