This Rug Gives Everyone a Place to Learn
Funded Jul 13, 2024Thank you so much for the awesomely wonderful rug for our classroom!!! The students are absolutely thrilled to have their own spots when we have whole group lessons and story time. It is a fabulous place to do small group activities, puzzles, games and just hang out, too!
The rug is so bright and colorful. It really adds a lot of zing to the classroom! One student noticed it looks like a rainbow! I have used a lot of bright colors in my classroom: red, yellow, green, blue, purple. The new rug fits in perfectly!
Even though each student has their own spot, the rug has become a place where we gather as a group of friends. We come together on the rug to listen and learn, but also to laugh, share, grow and support each other. It is a joyful place!”

Moving and Grooving in Kindergarten
Funded Aug 6, 2017I wish you could hear the noise in my classroom! Joyful noise! My kindergarteners are shaking, tapping, clanging, banging, dinging, singing, and swaying with all the wonderful instruments and CDs you have provided.
The kiddos have a triangle, rhythm sticks, sandpaper blocks, jingle bells, maracas, slit drum block, and more. They take turns with the percussion instruments and are working on making coherent rhythms. So much fun!
They are learning the months of the year and the days of the week with songs by Steve and Greg. They are singing about color words and numbers with Hap Palmer. They are marching with John Philip Sousa and kabooming with the "William Tell Overture".
As expected the xylophone is extremely popular! Color-coded sheet music for "Old MacDonald" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" helps the students tap out songs they recognize on the xylophone. Very cool!
Music makes life and learning fun. Thank you for helping us Move and Groove in Kindergarten.”

Funded Jul 26, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you very much for our new wobble seats. The kids love them! They are flocking to the writing center where the have the opportunity to use these special seats. They are also discovering the joys of writing while they are in the center.
The boxes arrived on the first day of school. The students worked together to open the boxes and put the seats together themselves (they snap together easily). They explored how the seats can wobble and twirl. They discovered they are the perfect size for kindergarteners. Then they played with the boxes and packing bubbles! It was a great day!
The wobble seats create an exciting atmosphere in the writing center. I know the students will continue to enjoy the seats and the center as they explore their creativity with writing, illustrating and more.”

Funded Sep 9, 2015Our Gathering Rug totally rocks! From the moment of delivery, the students have been full of energy and excitement (see the first picture!) The rug has given our class a sense order while also giving us a place to gather and learn as a community.
This is where we read, count, discuss, sing, dance and more. We do our calendar study every morning from the rug. We play "Flashcard Flop" to review our sight words. We use the squares to help us organize objects for counting activities. We listen to stories, read with partners and enjoy books by ourselves. We discuss social studies and science concepts here, too.
This Gathering Rug has become a focal point of the classroom. You have made a valuable contribution to the education of the students in my classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Larkin
