Goin' On A Zoo Hunt
Funded Apr 28, 2021"The Virtual Field Trip to the Bronx Zoo was a big hit with our two classes. The program taught our students about Animal Senses and how they use their spectacular senses to survive in our world. Our students were able to receive all this information in the comfort of our own classrooms. This exciting 45 minutes program was facilitated by a Conservation Educator and features grade-appropriate interactive activities and Q&A time for our curious students..
I truly don't know how to begin to express our gratitude for the donations to our two Pre-K classes. Not only were our students exposed to the Bronx Zoo, they were able to tour 3 zoos all together during this one session. We viewed a guided video of the Central Park Zoo, the Prospect Park Zoo as well as the Bronx Zoo. During the virtual tour, opportunities were provided for the children to get up close to view the animals. They were touching the animals on screen mimicking the feeling of petting these animals in person. Our students were provided with an opportunity to be connected and engaged with the natural world around them.
This experience certainly provided a memorable moment for many of our students as this was their first time visiting a zoo. We appreciate all that you have done to make this trip available. Our entire in house Pre-K is thankful and appreciative of your great acts of kindness and generosity. Many of our students are unable to afford or have access to visit these zoos. Luckily your donation allowed our classes the opportunity to come close to these animals and be able to stay safe while”

Do you SEE What I See?
Funded Aug 30, 2020Thank you so much for making this project possible for my fantastic Pre-K students. We are utilizing the shields by placing one shield between 2 students on each table. Besides being 7 feet apart, students now have another barrier of protection between them and their classmates. The clear shields allow the students to see one another while they communicate and share in their socially distanced seats.
We received our Safety Barrier Shields a week into our school year. We opened up the boxes of screens and with the help of our amazing co-workers, set them up effortlessly. When the parents and students arrived the next day to see the barriers, they were in awe and by the look on their faces, very excited and grateful. Both the parents and students were touched to know that there are so many people who care and support their safety when in the school building and classroom.
Relief and trust were also on the faces of all the parents as they helped me with the next phase of the project. They knew we were all trying our best to keep their children safe and continued to bring the students to school daily. Since September, more students have opted in to attending in person education. Thank you so much for all your support during this unprecedented time.”

Every Scribble Tells a Story…
Funded Jul 17, 2020Thank you for your generous gifts. I was able to get permission from my principal to go into school and pick up all the Boogie Boards. I bought recyclable tote bags from Ikea and bagged all my children's belongs that were left in school in March and the boogies Boards. I mapped out where all my children lived. I contacted all my parents and set up a date to have curbside delivery.
Thanks to my brother, who offered to drive me all around the neighborhood instead of me, pushing a shopping cart in the crazy heat.
The parents were so happy to see me. One of my students even stood in front of his building to greet me with cookies. He left the bag of cookies halfway and ran back to the building. We were social distancing. I felt like Santa Claus. I mailed the rest of the Boogie Board to the children who were not living in the area. The boards were so helpful during our virtual classes. We were able to use the boards to practice writing our letters, words, and number sense, endlessly.
All my students, their families, and I appreciated all that you have done to make this endless doodling and writing possible. Recently, I heard from some of my families that the board was a lifesaver over the summer. Some of my families used the board to occupied their child while some families worked. Many were able to share the board with other family members. The board helped the family bonded, from grandparents to their younger siblings.”

Funded Jun 26, 2020During the Covid-19 epidemic remote zoom time, I noticed the children were limited with writing tools and papers to write on. Many children were practicing their numbers, alphabet, sight words and word families on papers with blank space on the back. Some used flyers, calendar or notices. Many didn't have any materials to write on or with. I sadden and taken back by it, therefore, I wrote this project.
When the Boogie Board arrived, I delivered them to the home of each child in my class. The children were excited and surprise to have receive the Boogie Board. The children were able to use the board for practicing their ABC's and 123's all by themselves without having to wait for their parents to looks for writing material and write tools at home. They were able use the board endlessly .
The parents told me that the Boogie Board was a life saver. Majority of the children in my class have not left their home since March. The Board was able to keep them busy and occupied. Thank you so much for your support and generosity.”

Save the Trees!
Funded Apr 17, 2015This school wide project boosted the learning of our entire school (Pre K to grade 5). The students thought the recycling bins were "so cool"! They were originally using cardboard boxes, milk crates and mesh bins to sort the bottles and cans. The recycling bins made our hallways much more roomier, cleaner and GREEN!
The "Green Team",(the recyclers) worked as a community in this weekly project. They prepared the school for recycling each week by bringing out the bins and reminding our school community to recycle.
The Green Team shared the importance of recycling with their classmates, our school staff, their friends and family. Therefore, many students and staff brought in bottles and cans from home and contributed in making our school green.
We're so grateful for your generous donations and promise to continue to keep working towards keeping our planet green.”
