Building Creativity with Legos
Funded May 9, 2023Thank you for your donations. We were using the Legos to make different things such as bridges, cars, zip lines, etc. The students have to work in pairs or groups to come up with their ideas and plan their projects. Then they had to use the legos to create their projects. The students enjoy creating different things with the Lego pieces.
Every week the students come into the Lego Club and they get very excited because we try to make a new project each week. I love that they can learn to work cooperatively to plan and make their projects work.
Again, thank you for donating new legos for the Lego Club! We will be able to use it every year.”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and 2 other donors.More Technology
Funded Dec 17, 2021You have given my students a chance to use the chrome books in class. Some of the students still need help with letters and numbers, so they are using websites such as ABCmouse, Splashlearn, and Starfall. I have some students who have never used a computer or laptop so this is their first time navigating around the laptop. I hope that they can get used to use the mousepad and eventually learning how to use the keyboard. I have one students who loves to use the chrome books and always choose it as her center time choice. She loves to play on Splashlearn and I-Ready. My students love to play games on various websites.”

Reading the "Just Right" Books
Funded Jul 11, 2009Thank you so much for your kind donation. Reading is such an important part of school and it opens a whole new world to the students. The more they read, the more they can improve as a reader. Reading can also help the all the students increase their vocabulary and expose them to new words they have never heard of or use in their daily language. It will help improve their reading comprehension as well.
My students now have many choices in our classroom library. Each of them have different personalities and different tastes in the types of books that they like to read. The students actually look forward to reading and selecting their own books. And they have books that are "just right" for them.
The parents are excited that their child can take books home at their reading level. Most of them are working parents and they do not have enough time to take their children to the library. The parents are not aware of what types of books are appropriate for their children and they always ask me for a list of books for their child. Now they can see for themselves what kind of books the children are reading in school because they take the books home.
I cannot thank you enough for these great books that the students are enjoying. And thank you for sharing the love for reading with my students!”

Mrs. Kha-Alzheimer
