The students of Irma Rangel are a diverse and multifaceted group of young women. The Lady Panthers team is made up of girls from various backgrounds and heritages, but they all share a deep love of the sport of lacrosse and a commitment to each other as teammates. Irma Rangel is a nontraditional all-girls magnet school with a large emphasis on academics and molding the whole person. For many of the girls, sports is not a highly accessible outlet and our team is made up of many girls who have never played competitive sports or been a part of a sports team. While this is a challenge, we also see the opportunity in truly helping shape a large component of their development as leaders, student-athletes and people. We are proud to be able to work with these girls in this athletic environment where we can instill and guide many traits that aren't as common in the classroom. For us, things like mental toughness, grit, respect and confidence are as big a part of the team as any other piece.
