I have been teaching for 25 years and I can honestly say there is nothing like teaching during a pandemic. These materials will make a big difference in my classroom because with the pandemic children are not able to share materials. The chair covers with pockets will allow students to keep their books, folders, and writing materials in one place, at their seats. They will each have their own chair cover hanging over the back of their chair with almost everything they need for class in one spot.
Voila…I’m a first-grade teacher and teaching face-to-face—what a joy! Organized and engaged is the key! How do you keep students engaged who learned virtually for their first year of school? Routines and structure may not have been a priority for all students. The pop-its would be an added resource to keep their little hands busy while reading, writing, and engaged in phonics and math learning games.
Teaching organization and being excited about learning early on will help a child throughout not only their school-age years but beyond! Getting this project funded will mean a lot to both me and my students!
