  • 3D Prints with Hero 6

    Funded Mar 12, 2018

Thank you for selecting our school for a donation. The kids are excited to see their creations come to life. Being able to time lapse a 3D print has allowed us to shorten a 2 to 4 hour printing time to a 1 to 2 minute time lapsed video. This will save us valuable class time and allow us to show most of our students their prints on video. We have even been able to 3D print the stand that the Gopro is mounted on. As a bonus the Gopro is able to take fantastic fish eye photos of our classroom prints.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Yu

  • Sharing your story with 3D-Printed Artifacts

    Funded Feb 10, 2018

Our kids were very excited to receive a 3D printer. Many of them pondered and looked at it curiously as the majority of them had never seen one before. We have began to print our 3D artifacts and the kids are delighted to watch their artifacts come to life. The 3D printing process is new to me as well and I have learned a great deal through hours of scanning online forms and going over the manual in order to get our prints just right. The world of 3D printing has opened a new door of technology to our classroom and we are excited to continue learning how to tie the design component to our literacy standards.”

  • Sharing with 3D Printed Artifacts

    Funded Mar 6, 2018

Thank you for choosing us to receive your generous donation. We are so thrilled to have access to enough filament to cover everyone's projects. The kids are excited about getting the opportunity to print their creations in the color of their choice. The customization allows each kid to be even more invested in personalizing their artifact. Having enough filament will also be very helpful due to the high amount of misprints that can occur with a 3D printer. We are anticipating there will even be leftover filament to allow each student to make more then one artifact.”

  • See the World Through a New Lens

    Funded Feb 22, 2018

Thank you for your generous donations. Your contribution has allowed many of our kids to visit new exciting places. Having an additional two iPod touch's has allowed us to increase the viewing time for each student during classes. We have recently been inside a museum, next to coral reefs, and up close with animals in a rainforest. This Google exploration expansion has allowed our kids to get excited about learning new vocabulary words in their 3D viewers. We have many new english speakers at our school. It is so wonderful to have the ability of sending them back to their native countries to learn new words. The 3D viewers has made the learning in our classroom meaningful by connecting each child's prior experiences to new content.”

  • An Apple Today Gives The Teacher An Aid

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind donations. I have received the Macbook Pro in the mail and have been taking online courses to learn how to mix and edit classroom iPad footage on Final Cut Pro. I have also been able to enroll in The Apple Teacher Program to start the process of becoming a future Apple Distinguished Educator. The Macbook Pro has been so handy to have during our lesson plans. It integrates seamlessly with our classroom iPads. I am also able to AirPlay my Keynotes and lesson plans on our projector without having to plug cables and cords into my computer. We see lots of kids in a short period of time throughout the day. This useful feature has helped us save valuable time in the classroom.”

  • Travel the World Through a New Lens

    Funded Feb 4, 2018

Thank you again for your generous donations. Your contribution has allowed many of our kids to visit places they have never been to. We have been inside volcanoes, under The Pacific Ocean, and through the jungles of Congo. This Google exploration pack has allowed our kids to get excited about learning new vocabulary words in their 3D viewers. We have many new english speakers at our school. It is so wonderful to have the ability of sending them back to their native countries to learn new words. • Sharing Digital Books with an Apple TV

    Funded Aug 14, 2017

Having an Apple T.V. has been great for our all of our ESL students. The students are excited to see their interactive books displayed on the overhead. The Apple T.V. has helped spark interest in having students naturally improve their public speaking skills by needing to elaborate and explain their books to the rest of the class.

Our students also really enjoy displaying their sentence frames they create from their digital white boards. After they practice learning writing sentence frames, they are able to display the language on the Apple T.V. We really love how each student can project their personal iPad at any given time without having to plug into a cord. This ensures that we are able to make the most use of our time in ESL since we only have 30 minutes with the kids.

What we have also noticed is many of our quiet students are speaking more in class. When they get the opportunity to practice their speaking skills in presenting with the Apple T.v. it gives them more confidence to speak more in group settings.”

  • Learning English with Brainpop ESL

    Funded Aug 10, 2017

Brainpop ESL has been great for our beginning students. We have been able to assess each student to determine where their English proficiency is. Each student logs on daily and they are able to practice listening, speaking, and writing, in English.

Our students really enjoy the interactive games Brainpop ESL provides. After they practice learning to sentence frames, they are able to work with the language in an interactive setting. We really love how each lesson provides a different type of game using new language. This ensures that things don't get too repetitive for our kids.

What we have also noticed is many of our quiet students are speaking more in class. When they get the opportunity to practice their speaking skills in a private setting it gives them more confidence to talk more in group settings.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Yu

Our entire schools drinking water supply has been shut down due to lead contamination in our water pipes. The districts solution has been to supply us with a few water coolers with paper cups. If we had water bottles our teachers wouldn't need to pause instruction throughout the day to take trips to the water coolers. We also requested bean bag chairs to provide a space for our readers to build their fluency during silent reading. We have a bean bag chair in each of our classrooms and they have become a popular place for our students to read. We really wish we had a few more of these to distribute among our students. Our kids are excited to read when they get to sit in a bean bag chair.
