Blacklivesmatter Reading Materials

Ta-Nehisi Coates writes how "The classroom was a jail of other people's interests. The library was open, unending, free." Thank you for opening the gateways to self and community knowledge that have been historically sealed shut. I cannot wait to share the books with all my students.

I plan to begin this January with Michelle Alexander's "New Jim Crow" where we will begin exploring the historical ramifications of systemic racism and continue on to "Between the World & Me".”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Washburn
