  • Artist Calming Corner

    Funded May 14, 2024

Thank you very much for the calming corner supplies. Students have been very interested in the area and a few students use it very often. The fidgets and extra items are being used at the regular seats while children are working as well. Sometimes student just choose to sit at the rug instead of the chair and even take a moment to stretch where they may have been sitting still having a test prior to art. The calming corner is providing a place for students to reset and enjoy their time in art to the fullest.”

  • Steam Robots In Art Class

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

The students at our school loved the Ozobots! The students have learned about all the parts that are inside of the robots, where the sensors are, how to calibrate them, and where they "see" the codes. The students were excited to see all the different functions of the robots.

All students completed a racetrack using colors and codes. One student even accidently wrote the "moonwalk" code and their robot danced backwards off the track. After the racetracks were complete students hooked them together or drew new racetracks of their own on large paper. Many students described the experience as "EPIC!".

This is just the start of our adventure with robots in art and we are looking forward to learning and exploring more. Thank you for the gift!”

  • Art History Is Fun! Let's Read About It!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

The students at Brookview have really loved exploring the new books in our art library. Through the books students have been learning about Native American Culture, shape names, architecture styles, how to use art supplies properly, fun ways to be an artist, and why scribbles are fun. Students have enjoyed some stories read aloud and other stories they have been able to explore on their own.

In the future, we will read about famous painters from different cultures and try to create paintings in different styles. Some with wild lines, some with dots, and even dinosaurs with crowns. All of the students have really enjoyed our new library so far and they are already excited about the books we will read soon!”

  • Flexible Learning Space in Art Class

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

Students used the rug for team meetings, keva block constructions, for class critiques, circle time, and small group instruction for drawing and origami.

All of my students were very excited the 1st time they saw the rug. Many kids were cheering from the hallway and telling other kids they what they saw.

In the future students will continue to use the area for circle time, building blocks, class critiques and group instruction when Covid passes. Thank you for you help in funding this project.”

  • Brookview 3rd Grade King Tut Field Trip

    Funded Feb 22, 2009

I would like to thank you for your donation to our school. The students really enjoyed the field trip to the Children's Museum King Tut exhibit. It was the first time some of my students were able to visit a museum and they were truly grateful.

This field trip really brought the concepts we talked about in class to life. The students were using vocabulary from class to discuss the artworks with me. One student shouted across the museum " Look Ms. M a real canopic jar!" I was so impressed that he remembered that vocabulary from school. Many of the students were very interested in the hieroglyphic writing on a piece of tomb wall. They all swarmed me and asked "What does it say? What does it say?" When I told them I do not know all of the letters or what it says they were convinced I was lying and just wouldn't tell them.

The students also were able to visit an area of the museum called, Take me there Egypt. In this section they could touch sculptures, visit homes, visit coffee shops, dress as current Egyptians do, and learn about the Nile river. Thank you again for this donation. It was a lot of fun for the students and parents.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Short
