Funded Feb 22, 2009I would like to thank you for your donation to our school. The students really enjoyed the field trip to the Children's Museum King Tut exhibit. It was the first time some of my students were able to visit a museum and they were truly grateful.
This field trip really brought the concepts we talked about in class to life. The students were using vocabulary from class to discuss the artworks with me. One student shouted across the museum " Look Ms. M a real canopic jar!" I was so impressed that he remembered that vocabulary from school. Many of the students were very interested in the hieroglyphic writing on a piece of tomb wall. They all swarmed me and asked "What does it say? What does it say?" When I told them I do not know all of the letters or what it says they were convinced I was lying and just wouldn't tell them.
The students also were able to visit an area of the museum called, Take me there Egypt. In this section they could touch sculptures, visit homes, visit coffee shops, dress as current Egyptians do, and learn about the Nile river. Thank you again for this donation. It was a lot of fun for the students and parents.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Short
