Often, My students come to our school as a second chance after they've experienced failure in other schools. Most are below grade level in their English skills and almost all live below the poverty line. Many work to help support their families. Several are in unstable living situations, but they come to school. Despite these very real challenges, they've never quit trying. They will come to tutorials in the morning, after school, even during lunch. They fight for their education. The problem is by the time they get to my classroom, they are so familiar with failure and are running out of fight.
