Mister You're Blurry
Funded May 28, 2021Thank you so much for your tremendous generosity. I had almost given up hope but you exceeded my expectations. The camera works great and its versatility is priceless. I was able to present my lessons clearly and without shaky, pixalated imagery. My students were able to follow along and better understand the concepts. Unfortunately, I had to leave my school district but I left the camera for the next teacher to use and be blessed by it. It's a great document reader and I couldn't have done it without you. I only wish that I could've taken pictures with my students but due to Covid-19, that was not possible. You're amazing!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generosity and willingness to help out in a great time of need!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Sandoval
This classroom project was brought to life by Chevron.Solar Go-Karts
Funded Dec 9, 2015The Solar car project was designed for my AP Calculus students, some of who are thinking about going into engineering majors. When they first saw the cars they were blown away and very excited to get started. They kept asking when they could begin and how we received them. When I told them it was a generous donation from KIA Motors, they were in disbelief and could not comprehend why a major car company would be interested in helping students from East L.A. It was a great teachable moment to encourage them and let them know others are also wanting to encourage their goals and aspirations.
The cars are a hit and it's amazing how their creativity comes alive in the designs. They're trying to make modifications to make the cars more efficient and streamlined. The next step after this project is understanding how solar energy is converted to mechanical energy and use that knowledge in order to convert an electric golf cart and use a solar panel to charge the battery. Eventually, next year we hope to make our own solar vehicle.
My students are so excited about their learning and now more than ever, they are more encouraged about careers in engineering...and it's all thanks to KIA and this little project. Thank you for the helping hand and thank you for the continued effort to encourage all students across our schools to be innovators and leaders in the 21st Century.”

Mr. Sandoval
