I would like to provide my students with multiple ways to interact in the classroom using technology through their Chromebooks. Various websites, apps, and project based learning will provide the skills and ability to create their own personal portfolios.
A creative, working portfolio of student's output in learning and skills is a great resource for them to access and share.
Many of the apps I use require audio devices and the ability for the students to listen individually. I often assign vocabulary that requires proper pronunciation, questions on videos and would like them to be able to listen and edit their own recorded presentations. This of course requires a good set of headphones for each student to use.
In regards to the student work and school apps, I have difficulty accessing their Chromebook apps from my desktop and programs from my home computer are incompatible. Having access to a tablet that can directly sync and use the same apps without converting programs would be ideal in accessing student work and greatly beneficial.
I plan to organize and keep the materials and reports together for each student and bind their work into a summative comprehensive portfolio. Students without internet/computer access can then take home their learning experiences to their families, use the portfolio as a reference for future learning and projects, and show completed work to future teachers or potential employers. In the portfolios, many of the projects that I assign require students to print materials and information, including: pictures, graphs, typed reports, plans, narratives and research based essays. I would like to be able to print for all my students so they can have a hard copy. This requires a more advanced printer with better output.
The student's portfolio is a great resource for them to show off their work.
