  • Tools for Cooking!

    Funded Oct 5, 2024

Thank you for generous donation to get my classroom new supplies for our cooking projects. My students look forward to cooking projects each week. Our first project consisted of a trip to the local farmers market where we bought produce to make vegetable soup. The students enjoyed using our new peelers, boards, and knives to peel, slice and dice the vegetables. It was a wonderful introduction into eating Go, slow, and Whoa foods. For many of my students it was their first introduction to certain vegetables. We look forward too many more endeavors in cooking with our new appliances and accessories. Thank you for your support and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marissa

  • Sensational Snacks

    Funded Nov 15, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom snacks. My kids were delighted to get new snacks. My students look forward to having snack in our classroom each day and many depend on it. We have never had animal crackers before and they are a huge hit! When my students don't eat breakfast or don't like the lunch they can always count on our classroom for a snack. I am a firm believer in eliminating barriers in learning. Hunger should not be a barrier that children have to face and as I said in my project you can't learn if you are hungry. Thanks for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marissa

  • Hands-on Math Manipulatives

    Funded Sep 17, 2024

Thank you for helping my classroom to get new math manipulatives. We can't wait to get to our fraction unit so we can use the tiles to help students visualize and understand how to compare fractions to determine if they are equivalent . In addition, the fraction tiles help my students understand how to break up larger rectangles into equal parts too.

In addition, having base ten blocks that are magnetic will be a game changer for my students. Many of my students have sensory challenges that make manipulating and organizing materials challenging. Having items that are magnetic to use on pizza trays will really help my students.

Thank you again for your generosity!”

  • Jumping Into Learning and Self-Regulation

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you for donating to get us a new trampoline. My students were delighted when they saw the new trampoline all put together. Our old trampoline was starting to break and we were about to close it. Your donation saved the day!

We use the trampoline daily for sensory breaks and as part of our morning routine to improve regulation. My students know if they are tired, needing a moment, or unable to focus they can ask to go on the trampoline. Movement should be an essential part of all classrooms. Each day schools often make children sit for too long.

Thank you for believing in my students!”

    Ms. Marissa

  • Tools for Comprehension and Oral Language

    Funded Sep 6, 2024

Thank you so much for getting us a new Story Grammar Marker. We use "Brady" almost every day and some of the pictures were falling off of our current one, after having it for 20 plus years. The students cheered in delight when they saw our new "Brady." They can't wait to try retelling our stories with the mini "Brady's" too.

Comprehension is a huge focus for my students with various speech and language challenges. The Story Grammar Marker is the perfect tool to aid students in working on their comprehension skills.

Thank you for believing in my students through your generosity!”

  • Basic Supplies for Success

    Funded Aug 24, 2024

Thank you for ensuring that my students and I have the necessary materials for the start of the school year. With your help, I am having to dip into my pocket less and/or asks families to support my classroom. The Kleenex has already been very helpful as students sneeze and need to wipe their noses. While the disinfecting wipes ensure that my students don't get sick and that we keep our classroom clean. Especially as we have a lack of custodians at our school currently.

In addition, I can't wait to start using the black and red flair pens with my students to help them with their phonics coding and learning of heart words.

Once again, thank you for generously supporting my classroom.”

  • Save It for Good

    Funded May 28, 2024

Thank you so much for giving to my laminator project. I like to create resources that can last over time instead of making things that are disposable. Not only does this save trees but it also saves my sanity of not having to make the same material over and over again. With the laminator I have been able to make word work games, skip counting charts for math, and so much more. You donation will give to my classroom now and for years to come. Again, thank you for helping my students and I get the materials that help us to succeed each day!”

  • Sensational Snacks for Super Kids

    Funded May 17, 2024

Thank you so much for ensuring that my students have full bellies. After all, without a full belly who can learn?

But seriously, it gives many of my students, especially those who are picky eaters, great comfort to know that they never have to go hungry while in our classroom. My students know that at anytime they can ask and grab a snack. Many of them even do this and keep going with their work!

I must say that the apple sauces are their favorites and for some the cheese crackers. Sometimes I feel like I can't keep up with the restocking of the apple sauces.

So again, thank you so much for your generosity and ensuring that my students are happy because they can have a snack when they feel hungry!”

  • Diverse Decodable

    Funded May 31, 2024

Thank you so much for ensuring that my students have an excellent selection of decodable books for independent reading time. The decodables have truly helped my students this year. Decodables offer students a chance to read words that they have been taught during phonics. By using decodable readers this year I have taken some of my struggling readers closer to their grade level expectation. Ensuring that my students have materials that are Science of Reading aligned is imperative. Again, we thank you for generosity and for believing in my students.”

  • Tools for Cooking

    Funded Feb 23, 2024

Thank you so much for giving my students the gift of cooking. This year, so many of my are passionate when it comes to cooking. Watching someone else cook on YouTube ie VERY different then doing it yourself! The joy it brings to each of my students all while building a stronger sense of community is contagious.

Cooking is something that my students look forward to. It has helped a few of them with attendance problems by getting them to school on time and reducing absences. Not to mention there is so much valuable learning during cooking, more than a math problem or literacy program could teach.

I know that cooking with my students is building memories that will last a lifetime. I look forward to many more cooking adventures. With your help we have made soft pretzels, banana bread, cupcakes from scratch, black bean brownies, English muffin pizzas. We can't wait to see where our cooking journey will take us next! Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marissa

I am excited to join the PS 142 community this year teaching a group of 2nd and 3rd grade students who all have IEP's (individualized education plans) Each of my students has a learning disability and has had many failures in their short educational carriers before entering my classroom. As a team, my students and I, have worked tirelessly to build a STRONG learning community where everyone is a key member of the team, respects and encourages one another, and is seen for their strengths and not their challenges. Watching my students blossom into confident learners and role models in our school has been an honor. It is so wonderful to be back in-person with students this year. We greatly appreciate your helping ensuring we have the right tools to be successful learners and reduce barriers.
