My students are the under-served and underappreciated. They are categorized based on the bad behavior of peers and because of their outer appearance and financial situation. 90% of my students receive free and reduced lunch. The two meals provided at school are often the only time some of them eat. Against these odds, most are overachievers that aim to please. They want to be loved and understood. If pushed properly with a balance of structured learning and genuine compassion, amazing things happen in the classroom. My class is a safe haven but we lack resources due to funds.
