My students are third graders from low-income neighborhoods; however, they are not defined by this status. They are diligent and enthusiastic. Moreover, they are ambitious and self-motivated. Our school is high performing on state mandated assessments, and our faculty's high expectations for our students are clearly communicated. Our students know that their teachers care and want to see them succeed. The goal of our faculty is to create lifelong learners and readers; therefore, creating critically-thinking citizens who endeavor to be the change they want to see in the world.
