  • We Can Piece It All Together!

    Funded Aug 12, 2017

You helped us piece it all together! Thank you for providing my students with the opportunity to have fun and engaging learning materials in our class! For kindergarten students, puzzles are a fun way to learn and practice skills that are essential to building an strong educational foundation.

When we opened the packages and pulled out the puzzles, students were instantly excited to work on putting them together! I paired students together and we tried out the puzzles! I had each pair share which puzzle they completed and we discussed how the puzzles were fun and would also help with learning letters, colors, shapes, numbers, and spelling. Students shared which puzzles and skills they were looking forward to working on.

The puzzles have been an constant favorite in centers and small group for my students. The impact that the materials have had can been seen in the mastery of identifying their letters, colors, shapes, numbers, and spelling. Thank you for not just donating to my class, but helping my students build a solid foundation in their beginning skills.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • Learning to Read and Write in Kindergarten!

    Funded Aug 21, 2017

Thank you for your generosity! My students were very excited to receive packages and elated to find new learning materials for them to use! A memorable reaction was when a student did a little happy dance and said, "Oh yeah, someone loves us!" All of my students were very interested to know all about our new materials, how we would use them to learn, and who sent them.

The write and wipe boards and bingo games became a quick favorite among my students. We use the boards to practice our letter formation, sentence writing, number formation, and more recently to make number sentences from math word problems. When the resources first arrived, students practiced letters and letter sounds by making alphabet books with the alphabet stickers, now we are using the stickers to make sight words. The smart interactive pencil and phonic cards and magnetic phonemic awareness boards are center activities that students can't wait to use daily!

As we continue to learn from the materials you so generously donated, we are forever grateful for your kindness and the positive impact you have made on the education of each student in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • S.T.E.M. Will Help Us Grow!

    Funded Sep 7, 2016

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom! Your donations provided our class with S.T.E.M. kits, career posters, and a programmable bumblebee robot. The excitement that the students expressed as we received and began working with the materials was beyond amazing.

Many of the students in the classroom were not familiar with technology outside of computers, therefore they were intrigued by the programmable bumblebee and it quickly became a classroom favorite. The students are always up to the challenge of determining how they can program the bumblebee to reach the destination they have chosen. Students quickly determined how to use strategies to program the bumblebee and problem solve when their strategies provide them with unexpected results or challenges. Its is awesome to see students utilizing and improving their critical thinking skills as they work to program the bumblebee.

In addition to the programmable bumblebee, our class was provided with S.T.E.M. kits that focus on problem solving. All of the kits have a focus however, students were particularly excited to recognize the themes of the various kits. One of the kits utilizes materials to have students build a house that will keep the big bad wolf from getting the three little pigs. Another kit gives students the task of building a bridge to keep the three billy goats gruff safe from the troll. The students were thrilled to find out that they would be helping to solve problems from some of their favorite fairy tales! The materials in the kits allow students the opportunity to use and gain problem solving and engineering skills while being able to connect their previous knowledge of the story to their experience. For my students, this has helped them become more invested in their goals of helping to engineer structures to keep the three little pigs and billy goats gruff safe!

All of the students were eager to work with the S.T.E.M. kits and programmable robot and they were just as interested in the career posters that focused on careers in science, technology, math, and engineering. Students were drawn to learning more about each career and how the professionals in the field could use their knowledge to positively impact each field.

As a teacher, it is a good feeling to know that students are gaining valuable experiences and knowledge from the materials that were provided to our class. Without the donations made these experiences and learning opportunities would not be available to the students in my classroom. It is with a heart full of gratitude that I say thank you and I am truly grateful for the wonderful donors that made it possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • Ms. Garrett's Literacy LEAP!

    Funded Apr 27, 2016

    Dear Tickled Pink In Primary,

Thank you! The materials that were purchased from your generous donation made it possible for my 1st grade students to experience learning in a way that some students had never experienced before.

Your assistance provided students with a opportunity to read independently and practice reading strategies as they read along with their favorite Dr. Suess and Eric Carle books. It is heartwarming to hear students listening, reading along, and giggling at the stories that they are intrigued by. After several days of reading along with her favorite Dr. Suess book, one student was overjoyed and squealed with excitement that she was finally able to read the Fox In Socks. The moments like this, are what make your donations amazing.

Because of your willingness to invest in a student's education, students that have had limited access to real world experiences have been provided with the opportunities to explore topics ranging from cultures around the world to insects and their life cycles. Their knowledge has been expanded and the ability to have experiences through books has made the nonfiction readers that you funded valuable in our classroom. Everyday as students participate in learning centers, I see their excitement as they anticipate their turn to go to the literacy center and explore the nonfiction books. Watching a student develop connections and improve vocabulary as a result of their reading has been a great learning tool as well as a way to expand a student's world from limited to limitless.

Thank you again, Tickled Pink In Primary, your donation has made a great impact on learning in our classroom environment. Your contribution to education through Donors Choose has provided materials and experiences that will continue to expand our learning. For your contribution, we are truly grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.
