Most of my students are minorities who have come from other countries for a better life. Most of them get free or reduced meals at school. This is where they see the light, meaning a way to break out of the poverty cycle and make a better life for themselves and their families. Our school is in a district that is experiencing a lot of turmoil. The state has sent in a monitor to oversee some things. The buildings are falling apart. These students deserve more!
