Equal Essentials
Funded Sep 1, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donations to the entire student body here at Mather! As part of a service learning project, my students brainstormed various problems or issues in their community and voted on the one they saw as the most in need. Across the board, the students felt that school funding for basic supplies was most needed in our community. As a result of the funding we received for this project, over 100 students were able to get free school supplies, including pens, pencils, and notebooks. This made it possible for students to engage in classes from day one and not to have to worry about whether they had enough money for supplies.
Through this project, we were also able to establish a space in the school where students could receive free hygiene products throughout the school year. While this may seem small, for so many of our students this was a relief, again allowing them to focus on the task of school- learning!”

Funded Sep 9, 2022Thank you for you kindness in donating to our cozy corner. When we unboxed the materials the students were so excited to put the cozy corner together and to finally have a space in the school where they felt they could truly unwind. We choose to create the space in our counseling office, looking out into the courtyard so that students could take their mind off their struggles in a quiet space looking out at nature. As you can see from the photos, students also take advantage of the space to let their creative minds explore things like coloring and origami that they would otherwise not have the space to do in a typical classroom setting beyond their art class. We look forward to more students being able to use the space to find what they need!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Belmonte
