  • Food to Fuel the Brain

    Funded Dec 13, 2021

My students and I are so grateful for the generosity of donors to help fulfill a need in our classroom. Their eyes gleamed with excitement and gratitude that donors chose them. Much too often scholars arrive in class and have not eaten a filling breakfast. The healthy snack choices provided in the project allows me to offer something that will satisfy a growling tummy and prepare minds for morning lessons. Other times, with their rapidly growing bodies, their lunch choices do not hold them throughout days end. This year our school dismissal time is later and children could use a snack break. Your kindness allows us to take a brain break, refuel with a healthy snack choice and then return to end of day routines. Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wilson

  • Keep Kids Warm in Winter

    Funded Jan 4, 2022

My students were so excited to see that our project was funded. The materials arrived just as we needed them. As I unboxed the hats and gloves, students watched with eyes of gratitude. Each of my students was able to select a warm hat with a matching glove set of their own. This cold weather gear provides comfort since most of my students walk to and from school each day. And added bonus was to receive items that their parents may not have been able to provide for them. What I think the students were most joyful about is that they would enjoy outdoor recess and PE classes without cold heads and fingers. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wilson

  • My Students Need STEM!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Wow! I don't think I have seen students more excited to receive a package. Their eyes grew wide and their hands were eager to engage with the Stem bins.

Our school promotes STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning and these bins provide perfect engineering learning opportunities for young children. Bins are designed to pose an inquiry task and the materials enclosed (putty, pipe cleaners, small cups, cubes, etc.) are used to meet the task. For higher order thinking, challenge opportunities are built in when project questions are explored: can you improve on your project, what would you change, how would the change make it better? What person doesn't remember the most fun learning experiences in elementary school. These materials we be located in our new Maker Space and STREAM class center for loads of opportunities for learning and fun!

    Thank you again.”

  • Literacy Learning at a Distance

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Your kindness and generous donations supported students' literacy learning in a new and challenging learning environment.

Students were excited to find out that each would receive their own whiteboard, dry erase marker, and eraser to use for learning. Not only are they great for moments of fun, they are a great tool for literacy learning. During word work, students tap out, say and record spelling of new words. During writing, students jot down their new ideas before composing their work. And during math, students use the whiteboard as a resource to work out and solve problems! These materials are used widely and daily throughout our daily routines.

    Thank you so very much!”

  • Social Distance Back to School Supplies

    Funded Aug 7, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations on behalf of young scholars! They were so excited when they laid eyes on all the wonderful materials provided by your generosity and kindness.

In previous years, teachers would often assemble caddies or some other type of bin or organization container for groups of students to share. Now that it is more challenging to safely share and protect children, we really needed each learner to have their own materials to use. You came through for kids and each one has what they need to complete their class and home assignments.

In addition to supporting health and safety, your kindness reduced the stress and anxiety that often comes with students whose families may not be able to supply all the items they need. Now everyone has everything they need to get off to a successful year!”

  • Up Close and Personal with Webcam

    Funded Feb 17, 2021

Thank you for your generosity in donating to my project. This project was essential in helping to keep students engaged, lessons interactive, and learning fun in the virtual learning environment and has continued to be valuable during in-person learning as well.

During virtual teaching, my camera would often not work properly. Once I received the webcam, I was able to replace the laptop camera image with the webcam camera image to continue to have connections with my students. What is even better, the webcam allowed me to zoom in on features and demonstrations virtually. Now the students at home would have an up close and personal look at owl pellets, graphic organizers, book pages, and more.

They loved the close-ups and so did I. Again, thank you for your donations, care, and commitment toward public education and its children.”

  • Lessons Flow with Flocabulary!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you so much for funding a one year license with Flocabulary! I am looking forward to using this resource with my students.

We have entered a school year in unprecedented times and teaching and learning is 100% virtual in my school district. Although we managed some virtual teaching last spring, I wanted to offer students a new, fun experience. Flocabulary will help me to provide lessons related to word study in a fun and meaningful way. Kids love music and always seem to remember the lyrics to songs and words to many poems and nursery rhymes, Flocabulary will use some of the same techniques to deliver word study and word work. We will be singing and rapping our prefix, suffix, root words and more!

    Thank you so very much!!”

  • Distance Teaching With a Tablet

    Funded May 28, 2020

Wow! Thank you for helping to fund my project. My students and I were eager to use the tablet and portable speaker to improve online distance learning.

As I presented lessons, students had difficulty hearing me and also the instructional materials I presented to them. Once the speaker arrived, I was able to connect it and things became "crystal" clear. We no longer waste time trying to adjust the volume on devices or asking to repeat or replay the lesson or directions so that everyone can hear clearly.

Another great addition was the tablet. This device allows me to engage with students more directly while delivering lessons. I can interact with and monitor students on the tablet while they interact with lessons or watch video lessons or tutorials delivered from my device at home.

I am so grateful that you helped to make distance learning a little less stressful and a lot more productive for my little learners.”

  • Document Camera for Distance Learning

    Funded May 14, 2020

Thank you for funding this distance learning project. It has made a great impact on delivering lessons to my students. They were thrilled to hear that a document camera was on the way because that meant they would have better access to materials being presented to them.

The document camera allows the presenter to show an image to its audience easily. The image can be projected on a Smartboard (when we return to school) but I am using it to project the image onto the students' devices. Before the document camera, I tried to hold materials in my hand up to the camera (as straight and steady as possible). This, most times, did not work especially if two parts needed to be held up at once. Now, each student can see a clear image at home. The documents are still, clear and legible.

Thank you again for making a difficult situation more manageable. We certainly send a huge thank you.”

    Mrs. Wilson

  • Super Start with Supplies!

    Funded Sep 22, 2020

Thank you so very much for your generous donations! We have begun the school year completely virtual and some of our students and their families are a bit overwhelmed. Your generosity and kindness has helped to ease some of their concerns.

This project provides students with the materials they need to set the school year off successfully. Supplies that would be readily available at school will now be at home for their use during virtual learning. Each student will have dry erase board, dry erase marker, dry eraser and pencils to keep altogether in their pencil case.

School success kits are being delivered. This project helps set students up for more success along with materials to have some fun while learning. Thank you so very much!!”

My students are spectacular given some of the challenges they face. They are living in an impoverished area and many are living in single parent households or under the care of a guardian other than their biological parents. Our district and school has undergone budget cuts and it can be difficult to find resources that allow our students to have the same advantages as students in other districts.
