  • Inspiration and Motivation

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

My students and are I using the new resources as a display to honor those before us and as motivation to be leaders ourselves. A specific moment that stands out to me was during conferences when a parent said "Thank you for displaying this and seeing my child in your room." Also, students walk over from time to time and ask questions about each of the people. Your donation helped create that space for us to see ourselves as leaders and pushes us to do our best in class.

The next steps to this project will be projects based on other identities in our classroom and how they can be SEEN!”

  • Care, Love, and Compassion

    Funded Aug 5, 2024

Thank you for contribution to our classroom. You have added a layer of comfort and warmth to our room. The students call our room "home." This has been such a heartwarming feeling and pride to share with them that individuals all over the country are investing in their safety, joy, and care .

The curtains have been a game changer because it gives choice or light or dark space. Ironically, this is really helpful for students and their work styles. Lastly, your donations have inspired me to be creative in how we organize our space and create inviting messages. So thank you for your care and encouragement.”

  • Rethinking Seating for All Learners.

    Funded Jul 23, 2024

Thank you! Our alternative seating has been such a hit! I have done three rotations of students sitting there and they absolutely love it! I ensure that I look for students who are little more wiggly or in need of more space when sitting, but everyone gets a chance. This has been great because students continue to advocate for their needs, just based off a small gesture.

Also, it has created a more inviting environment for students to get comfortable. Comfort brings joy and joy brings learning. This has also opened up other seating in the space. Thank you!”

  • Teaching the Foundational Skills

    Funded Jun 9, 2024

This year it was important for me to implement monitoring strategies to ensure students are mastering their grade level standard skills. To do this though I wanted to be affirming to their social emotional needs and use it as an opportunity to celebrate their successes, rather than emphasize their areas of needs. So we came up with stickers. The photos show the beginning of the year and now some of their notebooks are covered. They have become proud of this which has led to more ownership in their learning and monitoring of their own achievement.”

  • Crafts All the Way!

    Funded Jun 5, 2024

Thanks to your donation our Leadership students have begun designing stickers as a school wide initiative to knock out bullying! Students were able to use the Canva platform to design and create stickers for their initiative. Then, we learned the machine and printed them out for #AntiBullyingWeek campaign. Students were able to put the stickers on their notebooks and phones to show their support.

Your donation allowed students to be part of the entire process and own their projects with dignity and pride.”

  • Safe Schools, Safe Spaces

    Funded Jun 12, 2024

Thank you for providing a safe space in our classroom. The students now have autonomy to choose when they need a new work space, to ask from help for peers , and to change their seat for comfort. This section of our room has truly become a safe haven for students to take a moment away from their groups and focus on their learning. This has also been our space that offers light from the sun. So students will simply go back their to get more sun.

The comfy chairs, the small table, and the learning tools are helped me continue to transform what schooling looks like.”

  • Adding On New Programming

    Funded Sep 28, 2024

Thank you again for your donation. Your donation just gave 40 students in the after school program safe practice equipment and will help them for years to come. This will help students practice to compete with dance and cheerleading. Your donation is increasing joy one day at a time. We look forward to sharing this in our photos.”

  • Alternate Seating Promoting Mental Health

    Funded Jun 16, 2024

Thank you for believing in my ideas regarding student seating. Today students sat in our new chair and they were in heaven! It helped my students who needs to wiggle a little bit more without disturbing their classmates. It also helped them with focus as they were able to tap or move on the chair without making a lot of noise that would embarrass them. Students were zoned in and very excited about being able to sit in what they called "the adult chairs." I look forward to further collaboration to give more students a chance on alternate seating.”

Students feeling ownership of their own books and having consistency in a novel will not only create a strong interest for reading, but build reading comprehension which is holding a majority of our students back. When students build confidence in their fluency, their success trajectory is endless. My project will build literacy and imagination. Students need a novel that intrigues them that they cannot see to put down and I feel that Harry Potter does that. I read a chapter with my students now and every single face was into the book waiting to find out what was next. ..
