"It is never too late to expand the mind of a person on the Autism Spectrum." - Dr. Temple Grandin Welcome to our 7th/8th grade Structured Autism class at Millswood Middle School! My name is Alison Spieth and I am beginning my second year at Millswood as an SDC teacher for students with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Teaching students with special needs is truly my passion and I absolutely adore each and every one of them. There is no greater reward than knowing I am able to make a difference in their lives, no matter how great or small. In our class, we not only focus on meeting state academic standards; we also spend much of our time working towards progressing on IEP goals and building life skills that will ultimately prepare students for adulthood. Students are taught how to effectively communicate, follow recipes, navigate within the community, improve self-help skills, etc.
