Help Us Bake a Cake!
Funded Dec 4, 2023The KitchenAid Mixers were a big hit with the students in my culinary art classes. We have already used the mixers to knead dough, make Valentine Cookies and decorative cupcakes with buttercream frosting! When the principal visited a class last week, she commented that she was so impressed about how creative and independent the students were.
The students have been cooking and baking up a storm. We have decided that our next project will be Foccaccia Bread Art. The students will make the bread dough in the mixer and then "decorate" with vegetables to make garden scenes. After, the students will take part in a cupcake pull-apart competition. Students will create a design with cupcakes (picture a caterpillar made out of cupcakes), and then decorate with frosting to make their creations come to life.”

Funded Dec 21, 2021Wow! Teaching Nutrition and Culinary Arts, having the proper equipment is so important to a hands on learning environment. These new additions have had a positive impact in my room.
The mason jars now contain different examples of whole grains and the new flour containers are filled to the brim- something that wasn't possible with the old and broken containers. We love the small whisks and clips for unused ingredients and the new laundry baskets are nice addition for keeping up with the washing of dish towels and aprons, but the item we are most thrilled about is the knife sharpener.
Because I teach high school, kids were able to watch a video and sharpen the knives themselves. It was a bit intimidating at first, but they soon got the hang of it. Safety is my number one priority and a sharp knife is a safe knife. The students were preparing omelets the other day and everyone noticed how much easier it was to cut the peppers and onions with the sharpened knives.
Thank you so very much!”
