Math Boards!

Hooray! Our project has been funded. Thank you so much for all your help. Our class is extremely excited to use our math boards to solve all types of math problems, but especially the multiplication and division word problems we're currently working on.
As small as whiteboards are, they really make a huge difference in engagement during math lessons. I know they will help my students improve their mathematical reasoning skills. Also, they will improve my ability to assess their work on the go!”

Many of my students desire to be challenged throughout the school day. They tend to rush through work with the goal of getting it finished, not understanding the processes actually at work. They can easily become disengaged because of this, and even though they like challenges, they are hesitant to show and explain all of their thinking, especially during math. Using whiteboards during math time encourage peer-to-peer mathematical discourse. About half of my students come from low-income families who struggle to get the supplies they need for school. While my school does have a budget for supplies, extra things like personal whiteboards are not common. Extra tools brought into the classroom excites my students and sparks their interest in education.
