Calculators have a million different uses in a math classroom. We will use them to calculate the area of a trapezoid, find the volume of a triangular prism, solve for the variable x, create function tables, expand exponents, and more... Even more valuable, calculators will allow us to check our mathematical calculations and understand that it's OK to make mistakes because we learn from them. The calculators that I am requesting are the same calculators that my students will see when they take their standardized tests. In order to prepare my students for success I am looking to complete our class set of calculators so that every student can use their own during math and get more practice towards building mathematical fluency and calculator expertise.
