Funded Dec 22, 2015Dear Donors,
The impact of your donation which funded the 6th Grade Science STEM Library is far-reaching. The new additions to our library has sparked the imagination and independence of my students. I see them browsing through the books, signing them out, and returning them with care. Thank you for re-sparking the love of reading in my classroom.
When the books arrived, my students' eyes widened. They felt so special. I had to hold a special lunch-session to accommodate the students who wanted to read the blurbs of books! It was amazing to see their excitement for print books, reading, and learning.
Since the books that you helped fund were all Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math related, my students are increasing their content knowledge as well. Several times, we have referred to the new books in this collection to help us further explore a class-related topic.
Thank you, once again, for your support. The students and I are very appreciative.”
With gratitude,

Mini Microscopes For Mighty Middle-School Minds
Funded Oct 29, 2015Thank you for the handheld digital microscopes that my 6th grade class has been benefiting from. This technology has improved students' collaborative skills because the students work together when using the equipment. Generally, students work in groups of 2 - 4 when using the microscopes and this helps them improve their communication skills.
These microscopes also help students to observe details that they would otherwise not see. We used the microscopes when we were performing ink chromatography calculations of the R-factor in our Forensics class. The microscopes helped students get more accurate readings and a better understanding of how pigments separate. We also used the microscopes when examining soil and leaf components in our Science class.
Lastly, obtaining these microscopes through your generous donations has made my students feel like anything is possible. They actively seek opportunities to explore the intricacies of fingerprint patterns and fibers from various sources. They have been inspired by your generosity and take pride in setting up the microscopes and safely putting them away.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ventimiglia
