  • Ending the Year Strong!

    Funded Apr 23, 2023

Thank you so much for not only helping us end the year strong, but also helping us start the year off right! Your generosity has not only affected my students from 2022-2023, but also my new 2023-2024 students! I was able to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to purchase engaging test prep materials, end of year review materials, and also items to help me welcome this year's students to our classroom. I am so grateful for you and the way that you have continued to show up for me and my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCrohan

  • The Basics Are Basically Amazing!

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

My students and I are so grateful for you and your support! While things may seem basic, they are a luxury to some of my students. Your generosity is helping me to provide a safe, welcoming learning environment where all children can thrive and succeed, regardless of the barriers. I cannot begin to thank you enough for helping me to do that. These kids deserve the best, and you have made that happen.

Thank you again for all of your generosity and for your continued support of my public school classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCrohan

  • Small Group? Let's Go!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my students and our efforts to maximize small group instruction! Throughout the years, I have witnessed the benefits of running small group in my classroom and the way that it allows students to learn more successfully. With 34 students in a classroom, small group allows me to work with a maximum of 10 at a time on work that helps enrich or bridge the gap to what we are learning in class.

The headphones have allowed me to run a silent tech station where students can watch complementary math videos. The rolling whiteboard has allowed me the flexibility of traveling from group to group. The storage cart has helped me stay organized and is keeping our small groups running smoothly!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCrohan

  • Reading Books in Math Class?

    Funded May 5, 2022

Thank you so much for adding some love to our classroom library! Being an International Baccalaureate school, I am encouraged to cross the curriculum and not teach Math in isolation. Since Mayfair School does not have a library, creating a classroom library has been a passion project of mine.

Each section that I teach has a classroom librarian, and students are encouraged to borrow books and keep them for as long as they would like. The students absolutely love the library, especially the addition of the Portuguese books and graphic novels. The biggest hit, though, has been the addition of books to our Banned Book section. During a time when books like Shadow Jumper, A Good Kind of Trouble, and Ghost Boys are under attack, I feel incredibly grateful to be able to provide the opportunity for my diverse group of students to read these books.

Thank you for all of your love and support! You are making this an incredible year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCrohan

  • Two in One!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Two in One has provided my students with the BEST education possible. When I started this year, I was nervous about how I would combine two curricula in such a way that the math would build on itself. I wanted to blend the curricula for 8th grade Math and Algebra I so that it was clear, cohesive and engaging.

My students have remarked on several occasions that the scope and sequence I am now able to use is allowing them to see the connection and coherence in mathematics. Not only that, my students have also benefited from my ability to weave in engaging, collaborative resources with our normal textbook assignments. This has allowed students to regain those social skills that they lost during virtual learning.

I am so incredibly grateful for your support. Thank you for giving my kids an incredible year of learning!”

  • Show What We Know!

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

This has transformed our virtual classroom! Peardeck allows me to see exactly what the kids are doing as they do it. It is completely live and helps me provide instant feedback to students.

This has been a game-changer. Prior to using Peardeck, I was unable to know how students were working out problems, or if they were working them out at all. By using Peardeck, we get a similar experience to me walking around the classroom and watching students as they work. I can pose questions, highlight student responses, and provide strategic intervention right on the spot.

Thank you so much for allowing us to use this invaluable tool!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCrohan

  • Digital and Dazzling!

    Funded Jan 26, 2021

This project has made a huge impact on me and my students. Creating engaging virtual material is an art and there are so many incredible talented teachers out there willing to share their resources. Your support has allowed me to tap into their talent.

With this project, I have been able to attain materials and resources that would have been nearly impossible for me to create on my own. My students have been so grateful for the material and it has helped me be more aware of their progress as we have navigated this tumultuous year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCrohan

  • Planning for the Unknown

    Funded Jul 20, 2020

Thank you for supporting my students during this incredibly difficult time. With so much uncertainty in this world, you have been a constant in the lives of my students and an incredible presence in our classroom!

With the earbuds and planners, we have been able to provide students the tools to be successful in this virtual world. I safely delivered sets of them to students' homes in the beginning of the school year and I have heard from so many of them that the planner is just changing their life!

I am so appreciative of you and the way you always come through for my students!”

  • Kickin' It Like in the Classroom

    Funded Aug 10, 2020

You have allowed me to be the best virtual Math teacher that I could be! The resources purchased in this project have taken my teaching to a new level in the midst of a pandemic

The standing desk has been a huge addition! With it, I am able to not only take care of myself, but I am also able to keep the same energy I would have in the classroom. The students get to see the full gamut of my hand motions, impromptu dance parties, and it allows me easy access to the whiteboard with whiteboard circles displayed behind me.

The XP-Pen has been such a game changer! It has been such a relief to be able to work out problems live with my students by integrating the XP-Pen with Jamboard and Powerpoint so that I can write those out.

Thank you so much for allowing me to give my students a virtual experience that as closely mirrors the classroom as possible!”

  • Flowing Math Inspiration With Flocabulary!

    Funded Oct 28, 2019

Wow. This was an important project, but it became a crucial piece of our classroom when our district went virtual due to Covid-19. Having Flocabulary available allowed easy differentiation for my students since I could provide them videos that were at their level. It also provided engaging videos in addition to read and response and checks for understanding so that I could assess students' learning. It integrated perfectly with Google Classroom and was so easy and fun for the kids to use. As we move into a hybrid learning model, this project will also benefit this year's class as well!”

Although it is my 4th year teaching, it is my 1st year here at Mayfair School! My seventh graders live in an extraodinarily diverse inner-city Philadelphia neighborhoods and attend our neighborhood school from Kindergarten - 8th grade. Last year, Mayfair School received its International Baccalaureate certification. As such, we emphasize on teaching the whole child through cross-curricular, real-world units of study. This means that learning at Mayfair focuses not only on what students learn, but also how they learn. The IB program is an approach that focuses on students and encourages reflection, service, and learning in context.
