Rolling Along, Playing a Song
Funded Mar 27, 2022Thank you for you generous donations to our Orff instrument project, Rolling Along, Playing a Song. We were so excited to get two more Orff instruments and to get the carts to make our instruments mobile. We are planning on featuring these instruments in our Fall concert next year.
It's great having even my youngest students able to move the xylophones around the room so that they can take turns playing and then put them away when we're finished. This will also help us to transport the instruments to the stage, cafeteria or even outdoors to perform.
My students really love playing instruments, and the Orff xylophones allow students of all ages to play a beautiful sounding instrument, apply note and letter reading skills, while increasing their focus and becoming a part of a group that's doing something really awesome.
Thank you again for your donation and supporting music in our schools.”

Strumming a Song and Singing Along.
Funded Jan 30, 2020Thank you for your donations for our ukuleles. I'm am working hard to build a fun, meaningful music program at my school with vocal and instrumental music. These ukuleles will give my students an opportunity to learn how to play and create music with their friends. I can't wait to see how excited and happy they will be when they see these new instruments.
Thank you again for you support and making a difference in my students' lives.”

Ms. Gentry

Funded Aug 9, 2019My students at Westover Hills are enjoying the new drums and xylophones so much. My younger students open out music class by drumming and singing our greetings and hello song. They anxiously look forward to this and it is a favorite part of our lesson. We've started using the xylophones too as a part of our Orff instruction. Many of my students have never had this opportunity before and they have enjoyed becoming real musicians.
When my students saw their new instruments for the first time, their eyes lit up. They were so excited to play them and we let everyone take a turn. These instruments have been true motivating factor for my students to follow classroom rules and to work hard, because the know they will get the opportunity to play. I love seeing the way that they help each other to play correctly and the pride that they feel when they have done a job. Since my classroom is right outside the lobby, visitors to the school have gotten to hear my students pay too.
We will be performing three songs featuring our drums and xylophones in our upcoming Thanksgiving concert featuring the first graders and will continue to use them as a part of our performances throughout the year.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gentry
