Help! We Can't Find Our Materials!
Funded May 9, 2019Organization is a major key to success! With these amazing tools funded through your generous donations, my students are able to build a strong foundation around keeping their materials organized.
The table caddies are instrumental for group work and quickly accessing materials to minimize lost learning time. Students know where the essential tools they need to work are at all times and can access them within seconds. Furthermore, the chair bags promote personal responsibility by showing students how to care for their individual materials and assignments.
These tools have truly made my classroom efficient and have given us the gift of time that we can use to grow our brains!”

Funded Jan 26, 2019As an educator, I have come to learn that not all students learn in the same way. A student who looks distracted, playing with their shoelace on the carpet may actually be understanding everything I am saying and is able to repeat the information. This project has provided my class with tools needed to be successful in different ways. For example, one student with a balance seat is now able to stay on the carpet and is more focused. Another student with autism uses a fidget to help him while learning. These tools have brought joy and differentiation to the variety of classroom learners!”

Funded Mar 8, 2019My students were so excited to have new phonics games that are helping them practice skills needed to make them more fluent readers! The power pens have been an engaging way for students to receive immediate feedback on word family letter chunks.
The flip books have been a tremendous help in guiding students in practice and drilling them for retention. They allow us to revisit common word chunks and practice sounds on a regular basis.
We are so grateful for these reading tools! They have already impacted investment and skill practice in a way that will help create a new generation of enthusiastic readers!”

Help My Students See There Is More to the World!
Funded Dec 20, 2018Having maps of the world and the United States that are readily at our fingertips have made our discussions more rich and students are already making connections to the world around them. It is uplifting to see that they are interested in understanding that the world is larger than their neighborhood. We have even seen some students set goals around traveling - something that is often a foreign concept to low-income households. We are so grateful for these maps that have provided visual support for social studies lessons!”

Funded Dec 4, 2018My students were SO excited to receive their own chapter book to read! As they are growing and becoming more independent readers, the opportunity to hold and have a real book is fostering their love of reading. The students who are working with these books are truly engaged and cannot seem to put them down. I've seen a huge jump in their comprehension as they discuss their "book club" books with one another and are thinking deeper about what they read without illustrations to rely on. We are so THANKFUL for these reading resources!”

Math Manipulatives Needed to Grasp Challenging Concepts!
Funded Dec 19, 2018These materials arrived just in time for a new math unit that we desperately needed centimeter cubes! Because of your generous contribution to our classroom, we were able to have an individual bag of cubes for every student in the classroom and now they are masters at measurement. I know that we will continue to use these tools in future units and for years to come. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to put these items in the hands of each and every student so they can practice important skills and build their foundation as mathematicians.”

There is No "I" in "Team"!
Funded Jan 22, 2019My students were beyond excited to open the boxes of games and play sets to use for inside choice. They were thrilled to have new things to use while stuck inside during the freezing temperatures. Furthermore, they are already learning to work together better to be imaginative or to play a game according to the rules! We are truly thankful for this opportunity to experience new things and work collaboratively. I know these are skills my students will take with them beyond the first grade - and we have you to thank!”

Math Fluency Needed in First Grade!
Funded Sep 18, 2018My students were so excited to get new fluency materials for our math calendar portion of the day! They have come to love the routine of the math skills and have undoubtedly grown their knowledge of math skills.
They enjoy counting and filling in the missing numbers each day (see photos on the project page). They also love to answer the question of the day that helps build their foundational understanding of addition, subtraction and place value! It is so rewarding to see them learning and making connections each day and we couldn't do it without you!”

Funded Sep 18, 2018We are so grateful for your generous donation that allowed our classroom to receive enough headphones for every student in the class! These headphones have allowed us to have a much quieter environment for individual learning, while allowing small group instruction to happen at the teacher table. Students not at a teacher-led small group work on tablets, computers, or a listening center to improve skills with which they need specific help. The headphones allow students to hear what they need for a book, application, or learning game, without having excessive background noise.
One particular student has really shown improvement in concentration with the use of headphones in our classroom. Before, he would come up to tell us he couldn't hear and would try to turn the tablet sound all the way up! Now, he has his personal bubble in which he can learn, read, and grow. Without you, we may have all had a headache this year!”
