The reasons for throwing our desks out of the classroom include decreasing the boredom factor for students (and teachers) of sitting at a desk all day, promoting class teamwork and sharing of ideas, reducing the power structure to create a more collaborative classroom with the teacher as the mentor or coach, and eliminating the practical distractions of a desk filled with papers and "stuff".
