Celebrating Diversity During Distance Learning
Funded Aug 7, 2020During these challenging and unprecedented circumstances, I am in awe of the powerful generosity that still remains in our community. Your support for our project means that students will have access to quality materials/instruction even during our distance learning. Students will be able to celebrate our wonderful diversity and see themselves in the books and music we engage with in our lessons. Thank you for making this happen with your kind donations.”

This classroom project was brought to life by A Generous Donor and 7 other donors.Growing STEM and Reading Scholars
Funded Dec 11, 2019Your generous donations made waves in our classroom. The joy of receiving these wonderful materials was evident. They couldn't wait to try everything. It was the definition of engagement!
Because of you, my first grade students were able to gain valuable hands-on learning experiences. They were able to collaborate, critically think about problems, and come to new understandings. Having the right materials is important to achieve this kind of learning and engagement. You were able to provide us with just that.
Thank you for your generosity and your support. My students felt more like scholars than ever before. You've certainly made an impact that will last a lifetime.”

This classroom project was brought to life by An anonymous classroom supporter and 4 other donors.Super Readers and Mathematicians!
Funded Sep 24, 2019Excitement and curiosity came over my students when they were first introduced to your generous donations. It was written all over their faces and clear by the flurry of raised hands to ask questions and comment on the various items. Engagement in the classroom is key for all teachers. So, when my students are immediately curious and engrossed by academic opportunities, I am a gratified teacher and my students are on their way to learning.
These wonderful resources have become a daily fixture in our classroom lives. We use the math and literacy activities in our centers rotations. Students are able to take turns using the materials that reinforce foundational literacy skills, build number sense, and develop fluency in basic arithmetic. Our first graders are now able to use these resources independently and collaboratively. They are often the first thing chosen at a center and give students the chance to work together and practice problem-solving with a classmate.
Overall this project has been essential to establishing an engaged, independent and organized classroom. A couple of the items that were a part of this project included a centers chart, all about today chart, and giant number line. While these may not seem like the most exciting items, they are fundamental to a classroom. We use them everyday and students have become so resourceful in using them to solve their own questions. As references, the kids can orient themselves with the charts, notice patterns, and feel secure in knowing what is coming next.
We hope to continue taking good care of all our donations and appreciate what we have been given. You should recognize that your benevolent support has helped our entire classroom grow in their learning. We owe you the greatest thanks because it most certainly takes a village.”

Ms. Garcia
Literacy and Math Centers to Showcase Brilliance
Funded Dec 13, 2016Our new resources have become important parts of math and literacy centers rotations. Using learning centers in the classroom provides opportunities to differentiate instruction depending on students' unique needs. Our centers also empowers students to direct their own learning and come to new understandings through inquiry. Moreover, the collaborative nature of it all supports students in building their social-emotional development in addition to their math and literacy skills. Because of your generous donations, we now have the materials to make this learning a reality.
Upon seeing their new centers materials, our 1st graders were ecstatic. Many were absolutely thrilled for their first chance to engage with the games and tools, and that excitement even continues. To witness that kind of joyful learning filled me with the utmost hope and gratitude. Thank you for bringing this joy to our classroom.
Educating through play and inquiry is such an effective and just way of schooling. Therefore, I hope to include additional materials to our centers routines. Also, I hope to develop opportunities for more science inquiry and devise a plan to include this in our normal schedule. Considering our current foundation of learning centers, I am looking forward to supporting even greater student-centered, inquiry-driven learning in our classroom.”
