Camping Supplies
Funded Apr 20, 2023My students faces lit up as they entered our classroom for camping week. With your help, our room was transformed into a campsite! There were tents, rafts, floaties, camp chairs, and even a campfire (pretend of course). Students learned in their camping spots that they got to pick out each day.
They loved doing the crafts with the supplies you provided: compass necklaces, rock painting, and glow stick lanterns to mention a few. They loved writing campfire stories and the prompts you provided helped students with structure to their stories.
Many of the supplies can be used every year during camping week and will provide many fond memories of school and learning. Thank you for your support! Your generosity is very much appreciated.”

Let's Go Fly a Kite
Funded Apr 27, 2023My students were so excited to get to fly kites at school and even more thrilled when they got to take them home! The kites were a great way to celebrate many academic achievements students made throughout the year. Students learned science, reading, and writing standards about animals and oceans. The octopus shaped kite was a reminder of all they learned. For many of my students, it was their first ever kite. Since they are made of nylon, students and their families will get to use it several times, thanks to your generosity.”

Cupcakes for Everyone
Funded Dec 19, 2022My students love baking cupcakes! Four students at a time come to the teacher table to bake. They put on their apron and chef's hat. One student pours the mix into the bowl, another pours the water, another pours the oil, (I add the eggs), and the fourth student mixes it altogether with a spatula. Then each student fills their tins with 6 liners. Then they fill their tins with batter and place it in the toaster oven. When the cupcakes cool, they get to frost them.
When they first saw the toaster oven they thought they were going to make pizza, since there was a picture of pizza baking on the box. They were even more excited when they learned they get to take turns to make the whole class cupcakes.
I am already planning on how students can use the baking supplies to learn more about fractions and following directions.
Thank you for giving my students these amazing learning opportunities.”

Funded Dec 1, 2022Our first grade classroom is in love with our new STEM materials! When they saw the marble run and magnatiles, they were so excited. They were more excited when they were able to build with them at math centers. They are chosen everyday at center time. Students collaborate together to build and create.
Students were able to make their own snow and were so excited. We were able to compare and contrast properties of how it was like real snow. It was a lab experiment and students used the scientific method. I love it when I see students smiling, while at the same time learning! Thank you for making that happen.”

Funded Jan 11, 2022I was so excited to receive the big book holder! My secretary even put it together for me. My students were buzzing about the new item in our classroom and were making inferences on what it was for. When I showed them that it holds big books where everyone could see they were thrilled.
I'm pleased that there is a storage area in the back to store all our big books. This helps them stay tidy and organized. With the different sections I can keep track of which ones I've already read to the class. There is also a white board on front where I can keep track of the stars we earn!
Shared reading has become a great experience with a designated area for it where it's easier for me to display the oversized books where all students can view them. Thank you for donating such a valuable piece to our classroom.”

Funded Apr 5, 2021Thank you so much for the listening station that includes a cd/tape player and headphones for each student. When students get to hear stories read to them they are exposed to fluent reading. This helps them to strive to become a fluent reader as well. When a student is a fluent reader, their comprehension of the story is also better. Thanks to you, my students are able to hear books on cd/tape and have exposure to hear stories. Most of my students came to school without headphones, or dollar store ones that quickly broke. I was able to provide all students with sturdy headphones that they can use to hear reading. The headphones are also used for testing and other apps that students use throughout the day. Thank you!”

Funded May 28, 2021Thank you so much for the camping gear. It was amazing to move tables out of our classroom and put up tents! The students loved learning in a camping environment. They learned from in tents, on sleeping bag, in boats, on floaties, and on camp chairs. Students learned about safety and had a year end review the last week of school. They wrote campfire stories and shared them around the "campfire" and lanterns. Thank you so much for making this dream a reality. The best part is that most of the items are reusable and they will be put to use for many years to come.”

At Your Seat Sacks
Funded May 27, 2021Thank you so much for providing seat sacks for my students. They are wonderful! The sacks fit on the back of students chairs and hold math, reading, and writing books. Since my students have tables, they can access their books now without getting out of their seats. Their books are easily at their fingertips. This helps with time management and gives them more time to learn instead of going to another part of the room to gather supplies. They are sturdy and a beautiful blue. I have laminated the nametag on them so I can use them for years to come. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Funded Dec 1, 2020The flexible seating chairs and desks came just in time. With COVID, our class has had to rethink how and where we can have alternative seating. We can't share items and have to be a safe distance apart. But with these chairs and desks we get to meet those criteria. Each week 4 different students get a flexible seating chair and desk, they get to have the same one all week! They get to choose where they learn best in our room. The comfortable chairs and lap desks are just their size.
When students saw them they were excited to get their chance to use them. It's always a treat to choose where to sit and in a cozy chair instead of a hard one. Thank you for your generosity during these challenging times.”

Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you so much for the donation of books to our classroom! I use these books as read a louds to model the E in the CAFE strategies, expanded vocabulary. I introduce the strategy card and place it on our CAFE bulletin board. Then I model that particular strategy with one of the donated books.
After the students see me model the strategy a few times, they are ready to try it themselves. I made a CAFE notebook for each student. If they are working on an expanded vocabulary strategy, then they turn to the E in their notebook. They have written down what particular accuracy strategy they are doing. Then they write down the interesting words they were able to find and what they think it means using their strategy. I conference with each student a few times a week. If they can show me that they have mastered that strategy, then we choose a new one for them to work on.
All my students love hearing the rich vocabulary of these new books as they are being read a loud. They are engaging and perfect for expanded vocabulary lessons, as the authors of the CAFE book recommended these titles.”
