Hands-on Learning with Robots

Funded Oct 3, 2019

My project is about helping young engineers learn how to program and engineering. My engineers are learning to program robots. They are using Legos EV3 robots which let them control the robot. They are learning important skills such as planning, sequencing, working together in groups, as well as building and programming. They are learning that commands need to be precise and about feedback. Some engineers prefer to program only on computers, but this gives the engineers a hands-on experience.

When they got the robot, they were really excited. They enjoyed building the robot and building other things with the robot kit, and learning how to use the different sensors like the ultrasound sensor that measures distance, the color sensor that lets them follow lines like lines on the ground, as well as trying different motors.

I am happy my students have different options to try new things and find out what they like to do.”
