Collaborative Work Space For MY Students!
Funded Jul 24, 2019When my students first saw the tables they were in awe. They smoothed the tables with their hands as if they were examining a treasure, looking at it in admiration. It was a moment captured in my heard forever!
The four new tables fit perfectly in our classroom. I placed two in the center of the room and the other two on the back side for quiet group work. The students use the tables when they are playing a math game or when they are partner reading a comprehension text.
These sturdy, clean designed tables are a worthwhile investment for our classroom. I know that many many more of my students will enjoy them and appreciate the generosity of donors such as you. I am planning on slowly replacing all the old, rusty, and wobbly student desks with these clean design collaborative tables. My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Thank you!”

Funded May 6, 2019Let me begin by first Thanking You all from the deepest corner of my heart for your kind and generous donation. The kid friendly, comfortable headphones are part of our classroom learning toolbox. My students use the headphones everyday when they are independently working on their math practice portal, or their Language Arts grammar practice, or when they are researching online about Biomes or learning about force and interaction, or simply use the headphones to concentrate and block off noise.
My students were so excited to receive these new headphones as the ones we had were big and they hurt their tiny ears. These new ones are comfortable, adjustable, and light weight making it easier for them to handle as well as use. They are just right for them.
Lastly, these headphones help create an environment that is viable for all learners. The easily distracted ones and the ones that need the quiet. Thank you once again!”

Funded Dec 5, 2018With much gratitude I'd like to thank you for your gracious donation to our classroom. Your donation has made it possible for my students to receive weekly Time 4 Kids magazines. This magazine has made it possible for my students to learn about current events both here in the US and the world. Time 4 Kids is a valuable resource for my students as not only does it inform them about current events but I use it to teach different reading, writing, and comprehension skills that my students need.
For example, while reading the 2018 Inventions we learned research skills. Students researched about different inventors and presented their research to the class. I also use the magazine to teach new vocabulary. Time 4 Kids provides a great context with visuals to teach academic and grade appropriate vocabulary.
I hand the magazine on Monday, students get a few minutes to look at the different articles. I then have them read one that I want to focus on and we learn the skill for the day. Students are excited to take home the magazine and continue reading it with their families.
Once again I would like you to know that your donation was much appreciated and my students and I THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for your kind and generous donation!
Thank you!!!!”

Seating That Works!
Funded Nov 3, 2017It is with much gratitude I write to you very generous and caring donors to express how grateful I and my students are for the beautiful desks and chairs you funded for our classroom.
My students are thrilled to have their new desks that don't grab on their shirts and chairs that don't pinch their skin. The new desks are a clean design, my students take pride in keeping them clean and during writers workshop they love spreading their articles, journals, and posters and sit down to write like real journalists! The chairs are comfortable for their growing bodies and now they can sit without worrying about the chair pinching them:(
THANK YOU!
Just a little bit more about what we have been doing. We raised trout in our classroom and learned about their life cycle followed by a 3 day field trip to explore their habitat. My students and I learned about the water source up in the mountains, then came down to the river-bay, and finally went to the ocean where we saw how the fresh water merges with the salt water and how a lagoon plays a crucial role as a holding tank when the tide rises and falls. The student and I both learned the importance of safe guarding our environment and living cohesively with nature. This coming week we will enjoy the Junior Olympics at our school, students will compete against their peers in class relay, hurdles, tug-of-war, tetherball, and soccer. We all have a blast during this week of play, competition, and teamwork!
Once again THANK YOU for your generous donation! Without gracious souls such as you all, we would lack the basic resources we need. Thank you!”

Mrs. Asher
Time To Read! Time 4 Kids!
Funded Jul 18, 2017I am humbled and filled with gratitude as I write to you and share the benefits of your kind donation. My 4th graders eagerly wait for Monday to received the new issue of Time 4 Kids magazine, and can't wait to take it home and read the articles that engulf their imagination. On Tuesday, I pull out the reading skill I want to focus on, like use of punctuations, inferencing, or author's point of view, etc. and we do a close read to hone into that skill. My students learn the skill in context using mentor text (the magazine) as their guide.
During close read, everyone reads quietly on their own the first time. Next, we share what we read. There after we go back to the text and I point out the skill we are learning, analyze how the author uses it and then the students practice on their own. It is a process but well worth it.
Time 4 Kids magazine interests all my students since it has an article for all tastes. What my students do like is the layout and the vibrant pictures that go with the story. I cannot thank you enough and Time 4 Kids magazine to make such a high quality literature available for my students!
THANK YOU!”

Funded Oct 24, 2016Generous Donors,
The Time 4 Kids subscription is a resource that will allow access for my students to non fiction reading that is valuable for critical thinking. Hence for the students to learn the skill to read, analyze and comprehend non fiction text is imperative. Common core standards require students to read 50% fiction and 50% non fiction texts in the classroom. As such your donation has allowed them access.
In our classroom, we do close reading. That is we take a grade level text and read closely learning a skill like, compare-contrast, finding the main idea, character traits, etc. This magazine is another resource we will use now.
When I introduced Time 4 Kids, my not so very enthusiastic readers got very excited. The pictures, the short simple stories encouraged them to read and learn.
THANK YOU! Your donation was truly appreciated and put to great use!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Asher
Zone Out with Cool Headphones!
Funded Jul 31, 2016Dear kind, compassionate, and generous donors,
I would like to personally Thank You for your kind donation of headphones for my students. My students use their new headphones with their iPad while working on educational apps such as Front Row Lexia Core 5, Grammar Wonderland, SumDog, etc for adaptive math and language practice. These apps enhance their learning experience as they are both adaptive and interactive.
Having a individual set of high quality headphones is very exciting for my students. Example, when working on their grammar skill on SumDog they compete with each other who gets to answer the most questions. Having an individual set of headphones allows them to play against each other and not wait for their turn. Secondly, my students are proud and feel a sense of responsibility to keep their headphone clean and tangle free and ready to use when they need to. They take pride in rolling up their headphones end of school day and neatly put it away in their individual labeled baggies.
Since, our school is a Title 1 school, the students do not have much they call it their own. For most of my students this is their first set of headphones and they are thrilled to be able to use it to learn. One student in particular at the end of each day, wipes his headphone down with a clorox wipe, rolls it up, and then bags it. This care for material that has his name on it warms my heart and I Thank You for making this happen for my students.
Once again THANK YOU! Donors like you brighten up days and open doors of opportunity for my students!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Asher
B5 - Collaborative Classroom
Funded Aug 22, 2015Your donation of the wobble stools have been a very useful addition to our classroom for my students who have a hard time sitting still on the hard and uncomfortable chairs of our classroom. 3 of the stools are reserved for the students that need it all the time and the other 3 rotate between the rest of the students who use it while taking a test.
I released the stools one at a time, giving it to the student who needed the most. When I offered the stool to my first student he was thrilled to try it out. At first he twirled in it and played around but soon got over the play benefit and now is able to move his body without being disruptive. For the 3 stools that rotate between students, they are a much desired treat the expectation is that if you sit on the wobbly stool work gets done quicker than normal. The stool has magical powers!
My 3rd graders are growing fast. At the moment they are busy learning their times tables and Latin root words. My students just completed building 4 different communities all by themselves from construction paper and proudly displayed the communities at our school Art Walk. In the next three weeks students will be learning about community helpers and their role in the community. They will read about different jobs and how each person plays an integral role in the success of the community.
Thank you so much for the gift to our classroom. Donors like you make dreams come true! THANK YOU!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Asher
