Funding my project will provide the school supplies and resources children need to shine in the classroom. Many of my students can't afford supplies for school. I want them to be prepared for class without having to worry if they have the basics like pencils and crayons. The classroom will be decorated and each desk will have what the student needs to reach their academic goals.
I want to create an environment where learning is achieved and students don't feel like they lack or can't afford new things for school. This year, our fifth grade classroom will be departmentalized. The materials I am requesting will help students keep organized, learn time management skills, and prepare for middle school. A large component of our 5th grade curriculum is to teach literacy through social studies and current events. Scholastic magazine will be used to complement our social studies and literacy curriculum; magazines will help students learn and make connections across the disciplines. Students' families can't afford the subscription, and that is why I am requesting these magazines to supplement instruction.
