  • Techie Geeks

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

My 5th grade students appreciate your donation to our project. Using computers has become a critical component to our classroom learning. Your generosity has enabled our students to use their headsets daily to stay focused on their math, reading and writing lessons. Additionally, the laptop cart on wheels is always a fun way to move our computers around so we can work together in small groups, or one-on-one with our students.

Many of my students do not have the technology support to continue to learn via the computer at home and at school. That is why the backpack, extra charger, and headset stands come in very handy. It helps our students stay organized. Students are ready to move to other classes or bring home their technology supplies that are now available at any time, thanks to your kindness.

Thank you for supporting our classroom Techies.”

  • Write Your Worries Away!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for contributing to our "write your worries away project". Our students love writing in their new journals everyday. We love our special writing time where we get to reflect on what is going on in our lives.

It was especially fun to decorate and personalize our journals! Our new colorful pens make it even more fun to write away. The writing corner we created helps us focus and sit quietly to get ideas and share with our classmates.

As we continue to grow in 5th grade, our writing time is an important part of our learning experience. We are grateful to you for supporting and believing in us.”

  • Our Reading Corner

    Funded Jan 7, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. Your generosity has made my 5th grade students smile each day.

We loved receiving our journals where we spend time each day writing about our feelings. It is a special time of day, where we sit quietly and reflect. Sometimes, we have writing prompts to help us get started, at other time we write about anything we feel like. It is our favorite part of the day.

We are thrilled to also have our favorite book "The One and Only Ivan". We are reading about the real Ivan too, so it is a wonderful paired reading. It spurs our debate about whether we think animals should be kept in zoos. What do you think?

Additionally, we are enjoying so many of the other things you donated. Our kn95 masks continue to keep us safe. Our squishie toys are a great way to release some stress during testing. We are constantly using our dry erase white boards to practice our math strategies.

Once again, we are grateful to you for believing in us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Leibowitz

  • Classroom Cleanliness

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

My 5th graders are grateful for your generosity! With your donations, my students were over joyed to receive healthy snacks that give them an extra boost of energy during their state exams. As you know, many of these students go hungry and rely on the meals and snacks we provide them during the school day.

Additionally, with covid still lingering we work hard to keep clean during these challenging times. Thank you for donating loads of sudsy soap and kid friendly hand sanitizers to make sure we continue to keep clean, safe and covid-free.

Your donations also provided our 5th graders with some fun dry erase boards with marker and erasers. We use them daily to solve math problems. It makes math more fun and engaging, and students look forward to using them to work out problems and share with their peers. They love holding up their answers on their boards as we share out the correct answer to challenging problems. We deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness, and hope that you know that you helped bring smiles to many!”

  • Book Club Chats

    Funded Sep 14, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom library. Our goal this year was to enhance our library's culturally diverse books. Our 5th graders want to make connections to characters that they can identify with and learn about how they can become leaders of change. Our theme this year has been about how people can make a difference. So many of the books you donated were based on these themes.

An all time favorite was the book Wonder; thank you for donating them. This has become a classic novel for 5th graders. They bonded with the main character Auggie, and can relate to his story of being a 5th grader in a new school, trying to fit in despite his uniqueness. We also enjoyed the other read alouds you donated that enriched our culturally diverse resources in our classroom library.

And, just as importantly, you donated many items that just put big smiles on many students' faces and brought joy to our classroom in so many ways. We appreciate your support, thank you for believing in our students!

  • Borrow, Read, Repeat!

    Funded Aug 18, 2021

My 5th grade students are exciting about their new library books and magazines! Our classroom library is an integral part of our reading curriculum. Students look forward to selecting from the books and magazines you donated. Since our visits to the local community library was curtailed due to covid, student solely rely on these resources to read for pleasure.

During our reading circle discussions, these storybook magazines have helped students explore a plethora of current event topics. Additionally, the read-aloud books complement our non-fiction texts, with relatable characters and stories that inspire. These books represent culturally diverse characters. It is really essential that my students have books featuring characters that look like them and represent their uniqueness.

It is wonderful to see my student reading and re-reading these books and magazines cherishing every opportunity to read independently or share with a peer. They also borrow to read at home with parents and siblings. Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Safe Learning

    Funded Aug 13, 2020

With much gratitude, I am writing on behalf of my 31 students who have benefitted greatly from your generosity. The "Safe Learning" project you supported has enable our class to excel academically during this unprecedented time. We are truly thankful that you chose us, and our school year began with many smiles from students and parents who appreciated these gifts.

First, the masks, hand sanitizers, and desk dividers that you funded allows our class to learn safely and minimizes the risk of spreading covid. As you can see from the photos, each child received masks, sanitizers, headsets, and dividers.

The headsets were a gift on the first day of school to welcome them to 5th grade. With 2 pairs of headsets, one for home and one for school, my class can learn well with less distractions. Many of our parents, also reached out with much gratitude for these headsets which they otherwise could not afford.

You also funded a beautiful picture book, 'Brothers in Hope', about a refugee child that was part of our reading and writing unit. The picture included in the photos attached, is a drawing that a student painted depicting the refugee based on the picture book. We read the realistic fiction chapter book along with the picture book that complemented instruction. Students were able to connect to the plight of the refugee child.

Once again, we are incredibly thankful for your support!! Thank you for commitment to education!”

Funding my project will provide the school supplies and resources children need to shine in the classroom. Many of my students can't afford supplies for school. I want them to be prepared for class without having to worry if they have the basics like pencils and crayons. The classroom will be decorated and each desk will have what the student needs to reach their academic goals. I want to create an environment where learning is achieved and students don't feel like they lack or can't afford new things for school. This year, our fifth grade classroom will be departmentalized. The materials I am requesting will help students keep organized, learn time management skills, and prepare for middle school. A large component of our 5th grade curriculum is to teach literacy through social studies and current events. Scholastic magazine will be used to complement our social studies and literacy curriculum; magazines will help students learn and make connections across the disciplines. Students' families can't afford the subscription, and that is why I am requesting these magazines to supplement instruction.
