What Do You Know About Weather?
Funded Apr 6, 2011You are the best! We have had so much fun with the materials you purchased for my classroom. The students love playing with the weather ball and bingo. The weather instruments, weather station and map have also been a great addition for reviewing for the test. Being able to touch and see these things really made a difference in their understanding of the concepts. The students were prepared and confident to take the science test because of your generosity and support to my classroom. Thank you!”

Funded Jan 29, 2011We just love the books! The students were so excited to have brand new books to read. It was like Christmas when I handed them out to each student. The books have made such a positive impact on our social studies unit about the Trail of Tears.
We did a character study and each student made a collage/poster about their character. They turned out great! The students also had a better understanding of how the Cherokee people must have felt when they were removed from their homes.
They learned so much and we did not even have to open a boring textbook! Thank you so much for making this happen in my classroom! I look forward to using the books next year!”

Funded Oct 20, 2010Thank you so much for funding my project! The fraction chart, place value flip chart and dry erase boards are wonderful! We are using them in my math class and in my homeroom for morning math work. Each day I notice students getting them from the shelf for help. Students also use them for group problem solving. These visual/hands-on items are a great tool for students of all skill levels because they are fun to use!
Math is very important for academic success and without your generosity my students would not have these vital resources. Thank you for supporting education!”

Funded Jan 14, 2010The Iditarod will be over this weekend, but the love of reading you supported will last a lifetime. We have had so much fun during the past few weeks and the students did not even realize they were working so hard. They loved the books and activities that I planned for this unit. We have tracked mushers, learned about the mystery genre, made husky puppies with socks and rice, explored the parts of a non-fiction book and learned a lot about Alaska and dog sled racing.
Thank you all for your donations and support of my project. I will be able to continue this experience year after year using the books you provided for my classroom.”

Play Time!
Funded Dec 18, 2009Thank you for your very generous donation of balls and outdoor games for our school. I was able to give each 4th and 5th grade classroom their own set of balls to bring outside during recess. This has stopped a lot of the arguments over whose turn it is and keep students from just sitting around. We have a big area to play on and now we have many different groups playing. They can spread out and have fun during recess instead of waiting on a turn.
It is wonderful to see them getting exercise and learning to cooperate and share. I appreciate your support of my project.”

Saving the Earth's Resources with a Projector!
Funded Sep 11, 2009Thank you so much for all of your generous donations to my project. The projector you helped purchase for my classroom has made such an impact on both the students and staff at the school.
I use it daily to show math problems, maps, pictures in books, text in books, writing examples, student work and even our spelling Boggle game letters. I have also been able to show things on the computer. The students love watching our "big screen." They are a lot more involved in the lessons and get excited when they see we are going to use it.
Without your help this resource would not have been possible this year in our school. I am the only teacher in the school with this technology. The faculty has even used my room for a meeting just to use the camera and projector. Your support of this technology has greatly benefited my school in so many ways and we are all thankful!”

A Room Without A View
Funded Oct 6, 2009Thank you for supporting this wonderful project. We are having so much fun with our binoculars and bird books. The students are looking forward to spring when they will be able to watch more of the birds. As for now, they are patiently waiting for the birds to find our birdfeeder. I keep the shade open now for students to watch for the birds to come. I know that we will soon have plenty of winter bird friends.
Your generosity has also been a lesson about giving to others. We are passing that generosity on to our bird friends. Thank you for caring for our children and teaching them the valuable lesson of caring for others (human and animal).”

Funded Oct 7, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. The students are very excited about learning how to play all the games. We have been exploring them during recess on our rainy days. I think the space ball will prove to be the favorite in the classroom.
Our school district has had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to keep jobs and schools open. Your gift to this project has allowed us to talk about generosity and how we can help others in need. I am grateful for your support and your willingness to make a difference for our children.”

Funded Feb 4, 2009It was like Christmas morning as I opened the boxes containing our globes! The students were so excited and even now they can't keep their hands off of them. We use them daily, for example in reading we located Alaska where the Iditarod takes place, in science we found out where the rain forests are, in math we observed something shaped like a sphere and in social studies we talked about how maps and globes are made. Just today, during our reading groups, I overheard a student say, "Wow, I found Mexico."
As a new teacher I am especially thankful for your generosity. Your gift will be appreciated for many years to come.
