Calm Self through Coloring
Funded Jul 7, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation! Students have been using our posters to build a team atmosphere, using it when they need to step away from feeling frustrated, and when a class finishes work early. It has been fantastic to see students working together and collaborating on making their poster even more special.
I was able to share each class's specific poster at the beginning of each class a couple of weeks ago. When I let them know that it is special because it is only for their class, they took that responsibility seriously. Especially the younger students, their face of amazement at the huge poster they get to color and decorate was so fun to see!
We have been working on a lot of STEM lessons these past few weeks and sometimes things have not turned out the way a student has wanted. Being able to step away for a few minutes has helped them gather themselves and come back ready to try again.
Thank you again, we appreciate your support at Arlington!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Halliday
This classroom project was brought to life by Kleenex® Brand and one other donor.iPads for First!
Funded Feb 3, 2016Thank you so much for your donation to help us get iPads in our classroom! The students have enjoyed learning about new math and reading programs and apps on the iPads.
There are many different apps that have been downloaded to help students with reading and math skills. It has been a treat for students to use this technology and they have loved it and are super excited when we use iPads during centers. They have also found a new way to read books they love with books found on a couple of apps. We are planning to also use the iPads for students to record themselves reading to help with comprehension.
Many of these students have not had a chance to use any tablet, let alone an iPad. The many things that an iPad can do awes the students and they get super excited to be able to try new things out (like using the camera or video). Seeing the students so excited about learning makes me excited when we do special projects and I see them so engaged.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Halliday
