  • We Need A Scoreboard!

    Thank you so much for your generous donation!! Having this scoreboard will really help bring this team to life. Girls have been practicing hard each week and have been very excited that we are finally going to have a team. With this scoreboard and hopefully jerseys next year we will really give these girls a reason to continue working hard to become better basketball players and in the process, better people. Thank you so much!!! They will be so excited to see our new score board :)

These books are written on the perfect level for my students to be fully engaged and curious. These books look and feel like real books which give my students a sense of pride. Many books on the lower levels of English are designed for elementary school students which can have a demeaning effect on students who are older.

My students rock! They are from all over the world! My students arrive to me hungry to learn from Yemen, Syria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, The Dominican Republic, Haiti, Chile, Colombia, and Japan (just to name a few). School is their gateway to success, but first they must learn English. Many come illiterate in their first language or have escaped war and tragedy. They arrive in my classroom with open minds and open hearts. These students face an uphill battle unknown to many in the education system and through something as simple as reading graphic novels they can start their journey to English fluency in my classroom. Through these books their imaginations run wild and with it a love of learning ensues.

About my class
