Literature for Boys- Engaging the Action-Packed Mind!
Funded Aug 14, 2024I want to send a thank you for the sweetness of your generosity for new books in our classroom. I have an avid group of readers this year with a broad range of genres that they're interested in. I'm so grateful for all of your support towards our group.
My class has time to read each and every day, and they also bring books home from school. Giving them new books that are rich literature with amazing pictures and storytelling is meaningful to them.
My students and I are so thankful and incredibly grateful for your generous support of our classroom library.”

Funded Dec 1, 2019I cannot thank you enough for the financial support you brought to my classroom through this project of funding historical fiction books for my students.
As I've mentioned, many of my students come from homes where food, shelter, essentials are truly uncertain territory. Coming to school, I love to offer them the best of what I have and what I can. You truly helped me to do this with the way you gave extravagant love through your generosity with this project.
My students are loving all the books you provided us with. They are thankful to have texts that are rich in history, yet have characters who are relatable to them. My students are excited for reading, excited for what they are going to learn every day. They are so thankful.
I cannot thank you enough- like I said earlier- you have changed reader's workshop for the good for so many of my students and for that I'm truly eternally grateful.”

Funded May 7, 2018Thank you so much for supporting our students through the project "Hooked on Books". I desired to have a classroom that would have a plentiful selection of different books for students to choose from. I know that giving students choice when they've come from traumatic homes is extremely motivating for them.
These books have already been a joy! The day the books came in, my students literally cheered. We tore open the boxes on the carpet and dove into the books right away. We passed them around the circle and gave everyone an opportunity to touch the books and look through them.
Reading in our classroom looks like every day and often. We wanted to make sure students had the opportunities they deserved to be able to hold books and have choice with those books. Some of my students have completely empty bookshelves at home. We are so grateful for your love and appreciation towards education and literacy.”

Funded Oct 12, 2017Thank you SO incredibly much for your generosity towards this flexible seating project. We have really been motivated and changed by the flexible seating options. Our classroom feels like a completely different space and it is changing the way we are thinking about our teaching styles and desires for these students as lifelong learners.
As the boxes rolled in, our students couldn't help but show joy all over! They wanted to open the boxes with us. They wanted to unravel what was inside and get their hands all over the materials that we were blessed with. As we took pieces out and put them together little by little, our students anticipation only grew.
With implementing the new flexible seating, students are able to choose a seat that best works for them and their personal learning style. Our students now walk into the classroom every day prepared to find their learning spot by choosing one of our flexible seats. This has been revolutionary for our students and I can't imagine not having this type of seating now.
Again, we thank you SO much for changing our classroom. You are empowering the next generation of learners to be filled with gratitude and have a greater sense of space and personal learning style. We can't thank you enough for your generosity and kindness.”

Book Shelves
Funded Dec 17, 2015Donors- truly- thank you in the greatest of ways! My students are enjoying the ability to read, teach from, and utilize our big book shelf. The make-up of this shelf is a shelf for a big book to be shown on top, a dry erase board on the bottom half, with the back being a place for storage, and a place to hold big book extras.
During large group instruction, I'm able to use the board to be able to stimulate student attention by displaying big books and doing lessons on the dry erase board portion. For small groups, my students are able to utilize the board with me to display big word cards and manipulate with magnetic letters on the white board. It has truly been a gift.
I want to especially thank you for the opportunity the shelf has created for my students. Most of these students come from low income housing where they don't have the ability or tools to play at home. During part of our day we have built-in play learning where my students pretend to play school and house with the board. Thank you for helping them learn basic social skills necessary to their development. You have gifted them- truly.”

Miss Schmitz's Sweet Firsties
Funded Jul 23, 2015Hello family, friends, and anonymous donors! Just wanted to send another thank you for the incredible impact your giving hearts have had on my classroom.
On the first week of school our carpet had not showed up at school, yet. Here my students sat with bare bottoms on the ground waiting to find out when the carpet would come. As soon as the carpet arrived it was practically a class party. We tore open the wrapping, laid the carpet out, and gave everyone their own unique "carpet spot". From that day forward, these students have had their "carpet spot".
We use the carpet for so many things. Every morning we sit on the carpet facing each other and greeting each other. We learn how to shake hands, how to greet people in the morning and how to give compliments (socially). We learn how to write, read, spell, make sentences, and do difficult math problems while sitting in our carpet spots (academically). We have a place where our bodies are comfortable and ready for learning (physically). The carpet has brought such community to our classroom!”
