Library Cart for Cramped Books
Funded Nov 11, 2017Thank you for your generous support. My students and I were overjoyed when the library cart arrived. Our room filled with "Yes," "Open it," and "Let's build it now!"
We loved the cart so much that we were inspired to redesign our entire classroom library. It's always been a treasured area, but now, the library more accurately reflects how much my students and I value books.
Now, all the books have a proper home where they can live comfortably. When my students shop they can also do it comfortably and efficiently. I've even noticed that there are fewer books in the book hospital for accidental rips and bends.
The cart has also allowed me to make way more books available than before. This has made a HUGE difference because there are enough books to go around. I can display doubles for reading buddies. I even learned that I have more science books than I previously thought. So, what I thought would be a general nonfiction cart ended up being a "Science Cart," which has been a hit with my students.
Please know that your contributions have already made a difference in my students' learning lives, and will continue to do so for years to come. You are AWESOME!”
With gratitude,

Books! A Window Into Self and Others!
Funded Aug 25, 2016Hello Donors,
Thank you immensely for supporting my project "Books! A Window Into Self and Others!" Your contributions have made a significant difference in our class.
We recently wrapped up a unit on how "government systems play a key role in developing our rights and responsibilities." So, these books could not have come at a better time. They were essential in developing understanding and taking action during this unit of study. Given that the unit aligned with an elections season that gave way to lots of concern and fear for all of my students, these books helped make really big and heavy topics much more accessible and not so heavy for them.
Additionally, my students have felt empowered by the stories they've read, many of which depict real people involved in real struggles for justice locally and globally. I'm filled with pride when I hear my students reference the books to express their understanding and support for each other.
Lastly, you may be happy to know that after a book has been used in a series of lessons it is released into our classroom library. Not surprisingly, these books have become among the most popular to be checked out by students.
Once again, I thank each and every one of you for contributing to the project. Know that your action really has made a difference and will continue to make a difference with future students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hoffens
