STEM - Spark Creativity!
Funded May 9, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my fourth grade students! The STEM bin items have been great for building classroom community.
We use the STEM materials at the start of every morning. This creates a calm and collaborative environment. The kids are able to connect with peers and use their creativity to create and build.
I love to see the joy in my students' faces as they show off what they have created. It truly helps to instill a sense of confidence in their abilities, and inspires creative problem solving.
Thank you again for your generous donation and for supporting our school. We are so grateful for you!”

Funded May 6, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. Your generous donation has given us fifteen wonderful picture books. I have read these books to my students as an extension of our social-emotional curriculum. Through reading these book students have had the opportunity to have meaningful conversations about everyday challenges and allowed them to make connections between these books and their social emotional "toolkit."
Not only have these books been used to make connections in our SEL lessons, but my students have also learned to determine the theme of each of them.
My students could not wait to get their hands on these books! After I read them aloud they went into the bookshelf where they are able to read them to help foster a classroom full of lifelong readers!
The books you donated created many opportunities for my students to open up and make our classroom community even stronger. Thank you again for your generous donation!”

Funded Dec 4, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. You have made such a huge impact on my students' lives, and with your donation, have helped my students become lifelong readers. My students look forward to finishing classwork so they can choose a book to read silently. Many of these books celebrate the differences that are apparent in the classroom. As I read aloud each book my students were excited to make connections with characters in the stories, and they continue to make more connections as they explore the books on their own. The books you donated created many opportunities for my students to open up and make our classroom community even stronger. Thank you again for your generous donation!”

Funded Aug 3, 2019Thank you so much for supporting the third and fourth grade students at my school site! The new headphones and cases have helped the kids tremendously.
We use the headphones almost every day! The students use them to access Lexia, our district reading program, Scratch, our computer coding program, and Zearn, our Mathematics program. The students are always so eager to get out their Chromebooks and new headphones. These headphones allow them to do so much more on their Chromebooks, when sound used to be a limitation.
The students have taken such pride in their new headphones and cases. They are very responsible with them and hang them in their cubbies to keep them safe. These headphones have created equity and removed the financial strain on our families.
Thank you again for supporting our school. We are so grateful for you.”

Books to Build Character!
Funded Oct 19, 2017The kids were extremely excited when I opened the large box of new books. They are truly thankful for, The Hundred Dresses, Pay It Forward, and Who is Malala Yousafzai.
At our school we have a school wide, reading rotation where students are grouped by their reading ability. I currently work with the students who are reading at, or above grade level. Earlier this school year, I was looking for books that were both engaging and challenging for the kids, and was not having much luck finding books in our collection. The books that we currently have to choose from are outdated and falling apart. While reading our previous book, each time the kids would turn a page, it would fall out. Needless to say, as they saw new books arrive, they were ecstatic.
We are currently reading The Hundred Dresses and the kids have made many connections to the text. They love how the story relates to a previously read book, Wonder. They are completely engaged in the message the story is teaching, which is anti-bullying. We have had many valuable conversations that allow the kids to not only dig deeper into the meaning of the text, but to really reflect on what it means to be a compassionate member of society. I truly believe that my students are building knowledge and their empathy through reading these enriching stories.
The kids cannot wait to get their hands on Pay It Forward and Who is Malala Yousafzai. I look forward to the rich conversation these stories bring to the classroom. Thank you again for your donation!”

Funded Oct 18, 2017My students were so excited when the big box of books arrived! They begged me to open it, and their excitement was contagious. As I read the titles aloud their eyes lit up.
We have been working on the Common Core Standard, determine the central message or lesson of a story, and I have used these books as a platform. One book that stood out to many of my students and myself was, "The Bad Seed." I read the book aloud and the discussion around the central message was amazing. One of my favorite responses was, "You can always change your actions to be good." This response to the story sparked a conversation that was truly powerful.
Your generous donation gave us thirteen wonderful picture books. This project has brought so much kindness and empathy into my classroom. I am able to refer to the books to remind students of the lessons learned and how we can be better people every day.
Thank you again! These books will be used to build character in students and foster classroom discussions on compassion, kindness, and empathy for many years to come.”

Funded Nov 25, 2016From the bottom of my heart, thank you for donating to my classroom, and helping my students succeed.
The kids were so, so excited when they heard that our project was funded – This campaign, which you helped bring to life, has provided the kids with fun and engaging ways to master mathematical concepts, and also the chance to enjoy the learning process along the way.
The math journals you bought are providing the kids with access to real life mathematical word problems, which help the students learn, and ignites their imaginations and the love for learning.
When my students use these math journals, they work with in partners to read through problems, and solve it together. This allows the kids to not only use reasoning skills and think critically about the problems, but also to work collaboratively with one another, furthering their communication skills.
We use the place value boards frequently. The kids absolutely love them! The place value boards are flip books with numbers from 0-9 above each place value, from the ones place to the millions place. The place value boards provide an opportunity for my students who still struggle with place value to practice. There are a few different ways we use the boards: either I build a number using the board and they tell me what the number displayed is, or I say a number and the kids build and display the number on their boards. This is a hands on process that allows my students to actively engage and improve their number sense.
Your donations also provided the comparing fractions flip boards. We just started our fractions unit this past week and I showed the kids the materials. I plan to teach comparing fractions in the next few weeks, and they are very excited to use these boards to help understand how to compare fractions.
Most importantly, you provided my class with not only the materials, but with the tools to help my students learn.
Thank you again for donating to this project, I can't wait to use these materials with this class and my future classes.”

Mrs. Alioto
