Flexible Seating

Thank you so much for your generous donations our learning community. The community has been impacted more than I can ever put into words. Each student has the choice to use any of the flexible seating choices during their group time. Each student has been using these to help them better focus on their learning. There are times when they choose one type of seating and they become self-aware that it is distracting them from their learning and choose to find another one that works better. Some students use the flexible seating as a tool to help them focus during the lesson, some use them to calm down when they are self-regulating. Student's are free to choose how to use them with the idea that each flexible seating is a tool in their learning and not a toy.

When the materials were presented to my students they were over joyed. Majority of the students were shocked that there was another option to sit in rather than a regular chair. They each were excited to try something new to figure out which one was the best option for them. I had one student in particular who asked me how I got them and when I responded with " they were donated" they said "wow, can we call the person and thank them?". I knew then that my students were going benefit from your donations!

The next steps for the classroom are to continue giving them the opportunity to learn more about themselves as learners. How they can continue to advocate for their needs in a way that supports them in classroom and out.
