My students are third graders who are typical learners, learning disabled and second language students. They come from many different countries such as Guyana, Yemen, Bangladesh, Mexico, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. Our school embraces our diverse students and celebrates their many different cultures. We are a Prek-5th grade school located in the Bronx. We have over 1,000 students and we have many different types of classroom settings such as ELL classes, ICT classes, and 12:1 classes for our most learning challenged children. Our building is limited with space we share rooms with a middle school and some of our kindergarten classes are in portables. My students are eager to learn, many have come from countries that are poverty stricken and war torn. They struggle with academics, learning a new language and navigating a new country. They love school and they love learning, however, for some it does not come easy.
